Welcome back to the Forum!
The easiest way to rejoin is by coming to one of the AIM meetings we hold every Sunday at 5pm EST. The room is Valar Guild Meetingplace. The chairpersons' AIM names are VardaValar1 or Eonwe Valar. Any Maia or Vala Honor person there can aid you.
Also, you can email Varda at varda.elentari@gmail.com to help start setting you up.
Think about what you would like to do with the guild (we are very active in LotRO and we operate a Tolkien Site) and whether you would like to keep the same primary name or not.

Great to see you zooming along once again! May you have a great time in DAoC, and may the Euro folk have a chance to get together in LotRO. It would be much better to see us all together again like Diablo days, but technology seems to be going backwards.

Most of our pictures come from the Rolozo Tolkien Site: fan.theonering.net/rolozo/The pictures on the Valar site all state where they are from and who the artist is.

If your friends, Tye or Wynn are here, none of us know them by that name. You can check the membership list, if you happen to know them by other names.

Aiya! Aye, we're still here! Varda (me) and Ulmo play on World of WarCraft in the Valar Guild branch there, on Lothar as Alliance. Aule has mostly been on EverQuest and tried out Dark Age of Camelot briefly. We still meet every Sunday, never a stop since the first one called by Ulmo. Check the News page for all the ways to come visit, but AIM is what most of us currently use. Our original Bilbo returned and took the name back. Namo/Mandos switched back to the SamWise name, which was his originally. So your old names are still active. What do you play these days?

Aiya Thror!
You don't have to use AIM.
Try clicking the link on the News page under any meeting report to come in by the Sigma Chat. Type your guild name as your user name. The Bridge also lets you talk with the chat in AIM, IRC, and Public Chat Valar on east Battle.net.
Thanks again, Farmer Maggot, for creating and operating the Bridge!
The Valar Guild will still be here for your gaming whatever year you can play!

Well said, Elatan.
We have had a Maia lead a branch for CounterStrike Half-Life, but he didn't have the Vala flair for keeping in communication with the rest of the guild. We might consider a Maia again if he does show such ability.

So you are just advertising your site and are not interested in adding to ours which has the same thing?
What you needed to do was email your URL to me as webmaster and it goes on our Links site. I have added it under Fan Sites and put it on the News page. Please don't spam our Forum.

Yes, critiques. I am not sure why our group would need them, as we email each other and talk to each other in AIM and games.
On a number of fanfic pages, they use "reviews" for pats on the backs to keep authors posting. Some authors hold the next chapter hostage until they receive reviews. I am not amused by this tactic.

If were to make Review section, it would include not just our Story page, but Poetry, Humor, Translations, and Art pages.
Would anyone be interested in posting reviews? Do you folks feel it would it be worthwhile to add to the board? Would you, the person reading this, put up reviews? Do you even read any of those sections?

Sorry to hear that about FanFiction.net, Orodreth. My main annoyance with it as a reader was its not saying if the work was complete or in progress.
Thanks for your warning of a problem for anyone else who wants to post a fic there. What is the difficulty? Is it down a lot when you want to post?
I have to give them credit as your host for your story, as it is not hosted by us.
As general info for anyone who might be intested in sending manuscripts: I only edit stories submitted to me for the guild's Story page. I prefer to do it privately by email, not after the fact on someone else's page where it might be embarrassing rather than constructive. I also prefer completed stories when submitted to the Valar Guild server. A first suggestion is to use spell and grammar check before submitting anywhere! Beware of homonyms such as rein and reign, which a spell check cannot catch. I have no problem with doing such editing, posting the story, and having the author post it elsewhere as well. I like to be able to show links to those other postings, if authors will let me know.
Perhaps we could have reviews on our forum for our original work (including our pages for stories, poetry, humor, and art), but most that I've seen posted on other pages are pats on the back to keep the person posting, or foolish flames. Helpful reviews seemed rare. If we want to try it here with this exceptional group, it might be useful. This is especially true as we also allow re-writes to improve already published work.

Orodreth, no problem. Since you wrote it for FanFiction.net rather than the guild, I simply put a link to it from the guild Story page under Authors and under Titles giving you and FanFiction.net the credit. That way you only have to keep one update going.

Radagast is a bit innocent, more interested in the plants and animals of Arda than the peoples, was completely willing to help Gandalf when asked.
