I am unaware of any unicorns mentioned in Tolkien's world. However, one must question if some might exist around the Cottage of Lost Play, the Cottage of the Children, the Play of Sleep. Also, the elves could make visions of imagination for entertainment, something Olorin (Gandalf) did for aiding others to imagine new things. Book of Lost Tales 1 first chapter, is "Cottage of Lost Play", with probably the most on the subject, and there are other references to it.
Fainan took a seat quietly but quickly, wide awake and wondering what the tremendous noise had been. Maybe Elrond would let them know in a bit. She was glad to see Auros again, after all this time, and wondered if he was well, but would wait for a better time to ask questions of him, especially if they might embarrass him in front of his lord.
With determination partly born of fighting boredom and to prevent a disrespectful remark to Lord Elrond, Fainan forced herself to study maps and everything she could find about the Angmar area, even, ugh, history. Much of the rest of the time, she studied with the local bowmasters and even worked on some trick-riding, hoping it might help avoid surprise attacks from the stony lands. She was sorely going to miss trees.
The days that seemed to drag came surprisingly quickly to autumn, a time that well-suited the looks of Rivendell to her eyes. She could not remember a time when the forests of Mirkwood had looked so colorful. If she kept fighting those that so injured her home, maybe it could someday enjoy the beauty that it should. To her surprise, Legolas called in the Mirkwood elves, visiting with them in the brilliance of the gardens, and in their lack of nearby eyes and ears.
"I must leave soon, on the mission that Gandalf has us working on. In my absence, you are to safeguard our home, as coming home to it would be most welcome after this journey. You have your own mission coming soon, one that will be important to our home's safety. I trust you to accomplish it and return home, to enjoy it and keep it safe."
Fainan curtsied, having finally learned to do so in an actual long dress with reasonable grace. "May your work go well and you return to us safely."
Aiya! We have a new kin house as of today, on our own island in Belfalas. It is Tol Lochul, in the Gaerwing neighborhood of the Belfalas homesteads. This is the first day of Update 19 that gave us the chance for the new housing. We aren't allowed to rename it Aman with the house being Taniquetil, but then we are incognito. Come on out and enjoy it, as it has plenty of room! In fact, it has massive amounts of room inside and outside.
The door ward is still Ursula, the brown bear brought in as our first decoration by Ancalagon, from the Thorin's area kin house. Our old house was quite possibly the first or very close to the first house bought by any kin on Landroval and was a wrench to part with, but times change.
Dis, Lenwe, and Varda have named our warg "Huan", guardian of the trophy room. All members can help with the kin house decoration, but don't be surprised if stuff is moved around! More goodies are being brought in all the time and we all shuffle, but I trust our collective good taste.
Happy anniversary, Valar Guild! Feel free to send your favorite screenies to Varda to add to the 19th anniversary page.
"Thank you for your time, Lord Elrond, and I hope our news has been of help. Please send us a message when you are ready to turn us loose after the sorcerer. I fear that he is becoming stronger and more ready to attack again while we wait, but perhaps he will also believe himself safe in his stronghold. He surely has special wards and sensing against which we no longer have our lore-master to counter them. Perhaps, however, our very lack of magic will make us harder to detect. At present, our team includes Calion, Frali, and myself, perhaps a small enough party to escape his notice or be beneath it. May all go well for you." She curtsied to Elrond and Meren.
Outside the room, she said to the others, "Such a small party stealthily going against odds. Feels like home."

Ok gang. Here's our chance to say goodbye to Indis, our fellow Valarite gamer and writer, who has gone to Valinor after bouts with cancer. Meren will be staying in Mirkwood, and that post is now made. Feel free to add yours. Then we shall adventure again. For Meren!
