Wow, just reading this thread I have a new understanding of just how much I need to reread the other books besides the trilogy. I haven't gotten any of them. Oh well, this gives me a reason to read more!

Funny thing about this, is he is mentioned in the D2X Middle Earth mod that I'm playing now too. And I asked the question before I got to the part in the game where he comes up. What a coinkidink! ;D

Hmm I don't remember this part from the Sil, and can't imagine it being Beleg teamed with a Mortal other than Turin. However, I will go with it until this question is answered correctly, not checking the true answer until after it's found :} And I will say the other part of the team was Hador. Of the 3 it must be, I choose him. I don't recall him or the other two being teamed with Beleg, but since Hador as I recall was the father of my other guesses and known to Thingol it might be him.

isn't the prefix of Halmir 'Hal'? That would have given more options, and be less obvious
