Very good. By main ideas I just meant any two that were considered by the council. So any two of yours would have been acceptable. But 4 is of course even better She's all yours

This is mostly off the top of my head since I havent given myself a lot of time to think it over. Too much LOTRO! Hehe.
Also I have no idea of its difficulty. Here goes:
Tall I was raised on an arm of black Fingers I have but a body I lack With my grip of stone I hold naught In cunning and malice was I wrought To the North I'm turned purposefully But with my master there I'll never be White I was in days of pride Red I turned when broken I lied
Who/what am I?

Very interesting riddle Anacalagon! It took some thought for me at first.
My answer would have to be The Witch King of Angmar, lord of the Nazgul, because of the lacking body and purposeful turn to the North, which I assume to be Angmar.

I don't think it's a person, because of the grip of stone, and the turning red when broken, among other things, instead thinking it's a wall, tower, or mountainrange itself.
"In cunning and malice I was wrought" and "White I was in days of pride" seem to contradict themselves for any place I can come up with though... I'll put my guess on Minas Morgul.

I would put my second guess on the one ring. It fits in with the rest of the riddle. I know of nothing else that could be it from the LOTR. Very good riddle though Anacalagon.

It is not the One Ring. If you need a hint, let me know and I'll supply one. Maybe you can discuss it at the meeting tomorrow and get some ideas

The white hand used like a road sign by Isengard.

Correct, Varda. It is the Pillar of the Hand. Congratulations!
As always, I'm interested to know how you arrived at the answer.

Saruman's signpost was a white hand showing the way to Isengard.
Arm of black: pillar holding up the hand, plus the concept of Saruman's turning evil.
It's just a hand, no body attached.
Grip of stone: a hand made of stone.
Cunning and malice: Curunir the cunning had a lot of malice.
It's turned towards Isengard, home of whom it is the sign of, but will not be moving towards it.
The white hand was made white, for Saruman the White. But it later had red paint.
It was knocked down.

Very nicely done Varda! Next question is all yours.
Honorable mention to Eonwe, who guessed it in the meeting.
