While many of us who haven't read the History of Middle-Earth series could probably conjecture based on the Sil about that question (though most of us who have read the Sil have probably at least glanced through HoME at some point), I don't believe that's actually a Silmarillion question, Indis, as I don't believe that term was ever used in the aforementioned book :}
