My next guess would have to do with Turin, perhaps the tragedies in his life.
The first perhaps is when he shot Mim, and came to live with Mim for a while.
The second would be when Beleg bore him out of the Orc camp after Turin was captured.
The third, once again taken as a less-than-literal meaning, would be when he spoke against the emissaries from Ulmo before the fall of Nargothrond.
The fourth and fifth, for lack of a better idea, would be his sister Nienor and their unborn child.
While I can fill all these and have it (for the most part) make sense, this seems to be more of a stretch to me than my first answer, but I'll await the actual ruling. I am more or less out of ideas for fitting that second part at the moment, though.

Actually, I'll take another guess. The war against Morgoth, aka the War of the Jewels.

Is it the Eldar (from the various kindred of Eldar, I think there are 5)?
If not that, is it the 5 Istari?

It is not the Eldar nor the Istari.

Ok, I'm out of ideas for humanoids who fit the second part, so I'm down to taking a more liberal interpretation of "individual."
I'm going to guess something to do with Beren and Luthien. The first could be when Beren first looked upon her. The second could be when Huan bore them during escapes. The third still very much sounds like a tongue, and in this case would refer perhaps to Beren being unable to speak after first seeing Luthien. Or perhaps the oath of Finrod to Barahir. The fourth and fifth I am guessing would be Beren's hand and the Silmaril inside Carcaroth.
The third part makes it a particularly difficult riddle. A tongue is the most obvious answer for that part, but there's very little that a tongue would be paired with in the Sil, and I believe none when used literally.
That, and I'm pretty sure I've used up all the ideas I have that involve the number 5.

Nope, its not Beren and Luthien. Here's a hint: don't take it literally

That hint doesn't help, since I haven't been taking it literally anyway :}
I was going to say dragons, but I think I just got a better answer.
I'm going to say the groups of Men who came into Beleriand. There were three groups that became the Edain, and there were two groups who betrayed the League of Maedhros during the fifth battle. The latter two were led by Ulfast and Ulwarth, if memory of their names serves, brothers, whom both did not escape the battle.
