Fainan:
"Mae govannen, noble Bilbo. May the hair on your toes be ever curly. Please pardon if I speak a moment with your companion?" The old hobbit nodded affably, falling back into working on some composition that looked like... song lyrics?
"Calion, I'm thinking about leaving tomorrow because it seems as if what we really need is scouting information. The books don't seem to be helping, and the weird sword seems lost to us as anything we're allowed to work with. I am always packed to leave. Perhaps more can be done of use here, but I don't know what it could be. Maybe you have an idea?"
She heard voices and looked around. "Oh, hi, Auros!"

Auros:
Upon seeing Fainan and hearing her greeting, Auros and Malril walked over to her and Calion. After a brief introduction, Auros asked, "What brings you to the training grounds? Preparing for the next leg of your journey, I presume?"

Fainan:
"Aye, Auros. We seem to be learning little here that can help Mirkwood, so it seems a good idea to scout for ourselves and perhaps intercept our enemies before they can do much more damage. Long waiting seems too dangerous a course."

With a glance to Auros, Malril said, "Surely you do not seek to leave us already, having just arrived? After such a long trek, certainly your horses need rest."

Fainan:
"I've checked the horses, and believe they will be more than ready to travel in the morning. They all have new shoes for the hard terrain. They've slept better than the rest of us, and fed very well. In only two days, they are already becoming spoiled to the easy life! They are of Mirkwood, used to a much more rigorous schedule. My Hithceleb was pushing me for more action, or maybe an apple. That is a bit of apple there, on your sleeve?"

Looking at a fold in his sleeve, Malril noticed a piece of his first apple had not quite escaped into the trees. With a smile, he plucked it from its roost and proffering it to Fainan said, "For Hithceleb, with my compliments."
Auros:
Returning to the conversation at hand, Auros nodded and said, "I see. If Lord Elrond has already given his blessing to your journey, I suppose this is farewell." With a bow, he added, "May you and your companions complete your mission swiftly."

Fainan:
Fainan looked down at the ground for a moment, coughed, and met Auros' eyes. "We haven't spoken to Elrond about it, yet. We are not from his realm, but Thranduil's. Still, you are right. We need to coordinate our scouting and attempt to save Mirkwood with him. But we don't have months to sit around. Our people are being hurt or killed, our forest home corrupted even more quickly."

Fainan:
Stifling a sigh, Fainan said, "You are right. I will go speak with our host now. Little is left here that we can do."

Auros:
Motioning to Fainan to hold for a moment, Auros added, "There are other things to consider as well. Have you spoken to any of the scouts or guards that watch over our borders? Have you gathered information on what the trek northward will involve? There are still those gathering this information for you, and they have not returned to give their report. If you are intending to willingly go blind into the enemy's lands, you are being too rash."
Malril looked at Auros, but said nothing. Auros returned the glare for a moment, knowing what words lay behind it, before returning his attention to Fainan.

Fainan:
Fainan brightened. "Your people would share that information? With whom should we speak?"

Auros looked at Malril, and Malril looked back. A silent conversation seemed to be held between the two for a moment, then Malril looked away and spoke.
"I have been serving among the border guards recently. I can tell you of three who have watched our northern borders that you would be able to speak to. One will be returning tonight, so I will speak to him and ask him to seek you out in the morning. The other two are scheduled to be relieved tomorrow. When they return to Imladris, I will speak with them also."

Fainan:
"That would be most kind! We would greatly like to hear what they have to say, once they have had a rest. We will remain, then. Thank you!"

"I cannot assure you they will have time to speak with you," Malril added. "They may have other tasks to attend to, but if they are willing and able, I will have them seek you out. For now, I must tend to my own duties." With a bow to Fainan and a nod to Auros, Malril departed the training grounds.

Fainan:
"Thanks," Fainan said to Malril's back. And if they just could not find the time to impart important mission information to silvans, Hithceleb was still there.

Calion:
Getting up from the bench after witnessing the recent conversation between Fainan and the Noldor, Calion bowed in goodbye to Bilbo, and strolled over to where Auros and Fainan were watching the retreating back of Malril.
"Worry not," he told Fainan, after arriving at her side. He lowered his voice to a whisper so Auros might not notice, and continued in the Silvan tongue. "If the Noldor will not speak to us, we may have other ways to scout the area, though perhaps not over too great distances. And if we're desperate, there might even be ways to find out what the scouts know, without having to complain to Elrond." He glanced at some of the trees spaced neatly amid Rivendell, or specifically the birds that were settled within them, and even back at Bilbo Baggins of quick eye. Grinning, he added, "I'm starting to make resourceful friends here."
With that said, Calion gave a nod to Auros and Fainan, walked to a tree and engaged in what appeared to be from the outside a one-sided conversation.
