The doorward came forward and greeted the company. "Master Elrond knows of your arrival, and will meet with you in two hours' time, if such is your desire. In the meantime, the hospitality of his house is yours, and someone will be here shortly to guide you to rooms where you may refresh yourselves."
Auros:
An elf emerged from the house and beckoned to the company to follow him. "It is here we must part ways, good travellers," the Noldo said. "I must make my report immediately, and see to my next duty. I bid you a safe journey." With a bow, Auros turned and took a separate path.

Fainan:
"I too must make a report of our findings, although this one is to the Prince of Mirkwood. He may have further orders. Do any of you wish to add your part as eye-witnesses or to pay your respects?"

Meren:
Although she was eager to make her way to the library and lore-masters of Imladris, Meren replied to Fainan:
"Indeed, I should pay my respects to the Prince, for we are somewhat acquainted from the time that I provided him tutoring. And perhaps I might be able to answer some of his questions related to our journey and our findings. If you have no objections, I shall join you." With a smile and the slightest wink, she added "....and then perhaps explore Imladris and its resources, if there are no further duties at this time."

Frali:
Frali looked around in wonder as the company was greeted in a courteous and friendly manner and bowed to the Elf who came to open the gates and offered the hospitality of the Last Homely House. After a quick thought he replied: "If it is not too much trouble for you, good Elf, i should very much like to see my kinsmen if they are still here. I speak of , Gloin and his son Gimli, if they are well and still here." Even while he spoke the young dwarf thought to himself: ^I wonder if it is even possible that anyone should be ill or unlucky in this place. Of course apart those who come to find healing.^ .
As an afterthought Frali added:"It might be an idea to give me a good way description and I am happy enough to find my kinsmen on my own."
One of the bystanding elves chuckled and answered with a smile and a bow: "I do not doubt your prowess and abilities in the wilderness, Master Dwarf, but Imladris is a confusing place, especially for those visiting for the first time. Allow me to be your guide."
Frali looked at the elf and answered with an inaudible sigh, bowing in return: "I should feel honored to take advantage of your generous offer. Please lead the way."
With those words the young dwarf followed the Elf to the guest quarters.

Calion:
Though he looked forward to the famed hospitality of Rivendell, and desired to explore the House and surroundings further, Calion decided it was a good idea to meet with Prince Legolas first. They had known each other for a long time, and though Legolas being a Sindarin prince had put limitations on familiarity even as they were younger, Calion was eager to catch up with an old friend. Perhaps the Prince might even have further insight in the matter of Calaron's situation, whom he had also known personally.
"I will also join you, Lady Fainan," Calion replied. "I'm sure the Prince will gladly hear our news from home, even though some of it is quite grim." He turned to Meren. "And afterwards, I'm sure there will be plenty of time to look around," he added.

Fainan:
"Time to give our report to the prince," Fainan said. Frali had a good idea asking for directions, so she waited a moment to ask the same helpful Noldor about where the prince might be at that time of day.

Auros:
Opening the door to his home, the Noldo pulled himself in and closed it behind him. Sunlight came in through the windows, negating the need for candles, at least in this outer room.
Auros had given his full report to Lord Glorfindel. He had not been reprimanded for any of his actions during the mission, but that didn't keep him from knowing that his mission could've gone better. It was also during his report that Auros realized he had not made arrangements for the strange orc-sword they brought with them. Having also reported this to Lord Glorfindel, Auros left it to his discretion.
Auros cast his cloak into a wood chair sitting at a table occupied by a stack of books. Removing his sword from his belt, he passed through this room and into a hallway, passing his library, filled with books of histories, maps, and personal copies of lore and legends, most made from originals that resided in Lord Elrond's library. Some were copied by him, others for him by friends.
On Auros walked until at the end of the hall he came to his own quarters. Here in his antechamber rested another shelf bearing more books, personal journals of close friends and family members detailing events in their lives going back into the First Age. Closing this door, he left his sword on a table atop an open map. On he proceeded to his quarters. This room was more sparsely populated: no shelves, no decorations. A night stand on one side of the bed bore a candle and a bound volume containing prose, poetic, and lyrical versions of the Ainulindallë. A blank page at the front read "To Calasul" in a flowing script, and the rest of the book was written in the same hand.
Auros touched the cover of this book for a moment, then returned to his task. He cast off the raiment of the road and pulled about himself something more suited to the vales of Imladris. Leaving these inner chambers and taking his sword in hand once again, he went to his "armory," or at least, that's what others liked to call it. He kept no trophies of war here, and only a few of the arms that decked these walls were of his making. Each had a story behind it. Some were of fallen friends with no heir in Middle-Earth to inherit the weapon. Some were recovered from troves and hoards, or from enemies that thought to bear them away as trophies. Some were broken, only their hilts or blades remaining, given by friends who, leaving Middle-Earth, had no use now to reforge them and knew he would appreciate them as a weaponsmith, or might be able to glean some knowledge or technique from them.
This was also where he kept the tools for the care of his weapons. Coming to a cabinet, he took out a cloth and a whetstone, unsheathed his sword, and went to work. Once done, he took a book from a shelf and went outside to read underneath a tree.

Meren:
Meren coughed, looking with distaste at her disheveled, dirty clothing. "Don't you think it would be more respectful to the prince to change our clothing? I don't think he'd mind a short delay. And of course...." She whispered, "I would prefer not to give the haughty Noldor a chance to sneer at the woodelves."

Fainan:
Fainan glanced at her own outfit, not in quite as good shape as Meren's, and coughed into her fist. "Point taken. Frali, would you mind if we tagged along with you to the guest quarters to tidy up?"

Well educated and used to acting as steward and guide to newcomers to Rivendell Frali's guide pretended not to hear Meren's exact word. He reacted however to the first part of her comment and adressed her non-chalantly: "I shall take all of you , if you so desire and you will find some water to refresh yourselves."

Fainan:
"Thank you. It's been an...exciting journey to reach this lovely place. We would like to show our respect to such a repository of knowledge and beauty."
Now if her friends would just take the cue to play nice and not knife...

Meren
"Indeed, it is something I have looked forward to all my life, and your hospitality is most welcome" She smiled at the guide, fearful that he might have overheard her whisper, quiet as it was.

Frali:
The young warrior looked surprised at Fainan that she was asking him for such a trifle thing but quickly recovered and smiled. "Of course not, Lady Fainan. This is more your home than mine and if this kind master is already gracious enought to do me this humble service , who am i to refuse?" A humorous gleam showed shortly in the dwarve's normally serious eyes, as he bowed politely.

Fainan:
With the group made reasonably presentable, they followed the guide again to meet with Prince Legolas. He was in a garden area outside the Last Homely House, admiring sun-loving plants that could not grow normally in Mirkwood. "But someday..." he said.
Fainan tapped at the archway leading into the garden, careful not to harm the vines growing on it. "My prince? May we report."
"Please do. It's good to see others from home. What have you discovered?"
"Sir, the mirk spreading from Dol Guldur has been either joined or augmented from a new reek coming in from the north-west, as if it somehow comes from the area of old Angmar. We have also had what appears to be a possession case of the brother of one of our party. The creature occupying the body seems to confirm that we are being attacked from this new direction in concert with Dol Guldur. We ran it off but could not stop the mirk. On our way here, we also discovered that at least one orc carried a scimitar with unfamiliar new runes that might be connected to this north-west influence. As one of your scouts, I request permission to investigate the link to old Angmar to see if we can stop or impede it."
Legolas was quiet for a moment, giving a nod to each of the other party members entering the garden. "Before I answer that, would the brother please give his report? What makes you believe this was possession?"

Calion:
With a quick, polite bow before Legolas, Calion spoke: "It is good to see you again, my lord. I hope Rivendell has treated you well."
Standing straight and looking into the Prince's eyes, he continued: "To answer your question, I'm afraid my brother's behavior and strange new powers appear to make it very clear. As you know, sir, our families have always respected each other, and you have met Calaron in your father's Halls more than once. I don't know how well you know him, but I can promise you he is not himself.
"When we met Calaron in the Forest, after reports of him being overrun by enemy troops to the west, he appeared to be leading a sizable ambushing force of orcs and spiders. He surrounded himself with an aura of shadow, which we sensed is related to the reek that Lady Fainan just reported on, though in a more concentrated form. The shadow was also in his eyes and his voice. He spoke not as my brother but more as a different entity, taunting us about how he kept my brother a prisoner under his control, about serving the Dark one, and that he was interested in lord Auros' mission. Also, when forced to retreat, he showed a certain control over the shadow around him, knocking me back with a strange blast of force from his hand and not leaving a trace as he vanished."
Lowering his voice and his eyes, almost talking to himself, Calion added: "And there was a strange ring on his finger as he did so, with an evil look to it. My brother does not wear rings, as a scout; any jewelry simply gets in the way, or is too easily lost in fast travel. I suspect that this ring is connected to his new abilities or the possession in some way." Making eye contact with Legolas again, Calion concluded: "I hope to find out more about such a thing here in Rivendell, by your and lord Elrond's permission."
