It was the sparks from the hoofs of Orome's horse Nahar.
An easy one: what is Morgoth's ring?

Yes, it was Rumil's original sript, the Sarati, invented in Valinor. It was often written vertically but could be written in other ways as well. Each letter was attached to a (horizontal or vertical) line, much like Sanskrit or modern Hindi, and as in Feanorian Tengwar, the vowels were indicated by diacritics.
Your turn!

It's possible I've asked a question that doesn't belong in this thread, so as we discussed in game, please feel free to look everything up.

I'm normally available weekday evenings plus days and evenings on weekends, and I'm happy to participate in anything: raids, instances, book quests, helping others with fellowship quests, advancing lowbies, and deed grinding, as suggested.
For my own characters, Alasse needs three more pieces of radiance armor and a lot of deed grinding. She has finished both volumes. Celebrethil is at 1.12.3 and 2.2.6 and has no radiance gear. Isaniel is at 1.10.5 and 2.5.5 and has no radiance gear. All three have completed kindred with both Moria and Lothlorien.

I actually have quite a few abc files that I can use, and it might be fun to play music as you suggest. Mine are almost all classical pieces. I'm arranging for all my characters to be able to play the harp, as I like the sound of it.
Isaniel can mentor some of the instruments, though I'd have to check for which ones.

Sure thing. I'll use whichever alt you like for Urugarth (LM, burg, minstrel), and I'll bring along the one earliest in Vol. II for that portion.

The first two are indeed in the appendices. The third may not be, but that's extra credit, so you can look it up You're right about the Tengwar and Cirth, but you need to give their origin and a name for each.

Meren:
On the way back, Meren bantered with Fainan about all the handsome male elves in the party while at the same time getting tips on packing for a long journey. Finally they reached the Halls, and there Meren led the way to the archives.
"Exactly as i thought--all but untouched," she winked at Fainan. She took a codex from the shelves, checked the title, and offered it. "And look, it's even in Sindarin, not Quenya!" she grinned, then sobered. "Read what you can, but don't worry if you don't finish it--after all, I'll be with you to help as I can."
Parting from Fainan, she proceeded to her quarters to gather her travel gear and to various storehouses to collect what else she would need. Finally, she carried her pack to the stable to talk to one of the stablemasters about a suitable horse. She had rarely needed one, so she had none of her own but instead normally availed herself of one of those belonging to the Halls. She had been authorized this time to request a mount for the coming long journey. After some serious discussion with the stablemaster, she settled on Duroch, an even-tempered gelding that combined stamina with speed. She even thought she saw a glint of intelligence in his gaze. In a moment of vanity, she thought with amusement that her mount would match her dark hair, even to the occasional reddish highlights.
Talking softly to Duroch, Meren told him all about the travel they expected and about her riding style. She courteously asked him to be her companion and to bear her to journey's end and back. Duroch gave her a look of assent, and thus was the agreement made between them. All that remained was to gather her tack and arrange her gear.
When the time came--and it would not be long now--Meren and Duroch would be ready.

Meren:
"I would be happy to join you in our preparations, and I'm sure I can help you find the book--unless someone has borrowed it." She grinned, " But I think that's rather unlikely. And maybe you can make some suggestions for a long trip; mine have not been as far as Rivendell."
To Calion's greeting, she responded, "Thank you, Hir Calion. I hope I shall be of use to you all on the journey."
Matching Fainan's stride, Meren set forth for the Halls with her new companion, smiling with satisfaction at the outcome of the meeting. She was already thinking about how to get to know the dwarf better, too. There was much she wanted to learn about the Naugrim.

Meren:
Meren bowed her head to hide a smile, while she said, "Yes, Hir Auros, I have a horse, indeed, and I will hope that it can keep up with your noble steed, which I have already admired in the stable. And you can be sure I shall come prepared with all I anticipate needing, and no more. Thank you for permitting me to join your company; I look forward greatly to Imladris, our kinsfolk there, and your unmatched libraries and relic stores."
Giving Fainan a wink on the side of her face that Auros could not see, she added "And I think I can assure you that I will do all I can to be of use in the less..." she coughed ..."scholarly aspects to the travel. I shall not be a burden to you."
"If you will excuse me, Hir nin, I shall go make the preparations you mention immediately, and I shall meet you at the time you named." With a graceful bow, she turned to leave.

Meren:
Meren bowed with all the courtesy she knew, saying, "Suilad, Hir Auros. I am most honored to meet you, and to be the bearer of this note from King Thranuil." She extended the letter to Auros with both hands.

I will be staying in a hotel tomorrow night, but I should have internet connection on my laptop. If I'm not involved with others at the meeting I'll be attending, I'll hope to send Alasse to help with the turtle.
