Meren:
"Of course." To her companions she requested that they excuse her for leaving them but said she hoped for a chance to resume their conversation. Then she stood up, bowed to the loremasters, and joined Fainan and Calion, with a request for the topic of the meeting.

Meren
An afternoon spent in vigorous discussion of conflicting versions of the history of Gil-Galad during the war that had finally defeated Sauron had ended in a retreat to the Hall of Fire, where Meren and some of her fellow lore-masters were still deeply into their conversation. Meren had been gratified that she was able to provide some information as yet unavailable in Imladris about the participation of the Mirkwood forces in the battle. All were happily relaxed over food and drink, tongues still active in learned discourse. She thought momentarily about the mission to the north and wondered what else she should research before their departure, but then her thoughts returned to the continuing discussions.

Meren:
Meren was aware of Fainan's eagerness to be on her way. She herself had done enough research and study that she felt she could depart from Rivendell when the rest of the company was ready, but in the meantime, she was determined to delight in the peace, tranquility, beauty and hospitality of this legendary haven. And of course she would continue to seek answers to her questions and enjoy the new inquiries that constantly arose. Contentedly she walked along the quiet wooded paths, appreciating the deep sense of 'home' she had felt since she had entered the boundaries of the Hidden Valley.

Meren:
Deep in discussions with her counterparts in Imladris, Meren thought little about departure, though of course it was in the back of her mind. She was delighted at the exchange of lore, history, and other knowledge, and she felt that the lore-masters with whom she was talking were also pleased to learn more of Mirkwood and their eastern cousins.

Meren:
"I'm sure you'll enjoy it far more than the library!" She winked, and waved Fainan on her way, making her own way to find some 'shop talk.'

Meren:
Smiling at Fainan, Meren gave her a brief description of her findings so far, and some thoughts about how this might affect how they would proceed once they had left Imladris. Then she added, "I wonder if we could just enjoy the short time we have left here; it will be soon enough that we have to focus on the grim realities we will face."
Looking about enthusiastically, Meren observed all the artwork, cultivated plant life, and the wilder portions in the vicinity, which appeared entirely natural to her, except for the lack of dark-tainted enemies. Wildlife there was, some of which was clearly not friendly, but it was natural territoriality or fear, not the twisted hatred she had encountered in Mirkwood or on their travels. This was how a forest should be--not so safe that one forgot to pay attention, but also not a directed hostility.
As they walked about town, she made herself available to answer Fainan's questions--those she could answer, that is--about what they were seeing. At the same time, she kept her eyes open for elves who might be willing to share some of the Noldorin lore for which she was eager.

Meren:
Meren emerged from her quarters carrying the sword, still wrapped well to prevent evil emanations. She handed it to Auros, saying, "Here is the sword. I hope you and your kin can learn something useful from it. In the meantime, I would like to see something of Imladris."
As she left Auros, she added, "Of course I will help if my skills and knowledge prove to be of use." With that she walked out of the building and began her exploration of a place she had dreamed of for a very long time.

Meren:
Meren looked up in suprise at Auros, wondering why he had no time for a few seconds of pleasantries, nor to provide a reason for his haste in demanding the sword.
"Of course you may have it; I am glad to be relieved of the burden, one I took on only out of what seemed to be necessity at the time. And a small amount of politeness would not be out of order nor a waste of time," she added with some sharpness.
"Please come with me to my quarters, where we will retrieve the item you so courteously....er...requested." She rose and gestured to Auros to follow her. "Fainan, you are welcome to join us as well."
Not dissatisfied to have an excuse to leave the library, she anticipated an opportunity to see something of Imladris and perhaps find a congenial lore-master or two to talk to.

Meren:
Completely unaware of discomforts such as dust and her own cramped position, Meren looked up from her trance-like turning of pages and scrolling when Fainan spoke. Suddenly aware that what was pure pleasure to her was not so enjoyable to her companion, she said, "I think you need a break from library duty, and you need no excuse for it." She winked. "Go out and enjoy the fresh air, as I hope to do soon as well. I hope to have time to learn more about Imladris than the library, wonderful though it is, before we must depart." She looked with anticipatory pleasure at all the unread material that awaited her, and thought of intense conversations to come with the lore-masters of this (to her) sliver of Valinor in Endor.

I'll be out of town through 11/27, departing 11/18 for Denver, thence to California on the 20th. I'll be in game as I can, but my schedule will be unpredictable.
