Frali:
Frali's thoughts were interrupted by the sudden scream of a woman and the following hubbub. Instinctively the young dwarf grabbed his axe and jumped in a battleready situation.
Suspiciously he glanced around and was ready for an invasion force of orcs to rush into the hall. But nothing of that did happen . All he could see that a figure was lifted on a cloth litter and carried away.
Since he didn't know what would happen next, Frali stayed where he was, his axe still in his hand, ready to be used
As the excitement settled down and Thranduil asked Auros whether they could pass on the message of the attack and the threat connected to it to Master Elrond in Imladris, Frali silently nodded his agreement and thought to himself. *Maybe this will get us on the way all for the faster now .. it is getting time.*

Frali:
Frali gladly accepted Fainans help as he climbed stiff legged from his pony and a sigh of relief slipped from his mouth as his feet touched the ground. "Thank you, my lady, " Frali bowed clumsily to her to underline his words. With polite words he handed the mount to the stable hands who led it away to his well earned rest and food.
Frali turned towards Fainan who exchanged greetings with a male elf, and the way they treated each other told the young dwarf that it must be a close relative. Slightly smiling he followed the Elves towards the entrance of the palace area - at least he tried to smile. The young dwarf found that every step hurt him a lot more than he cared to admit and it cost him quite a bit strength of will not to show the pain in his features . As he came closer to Fainan and her companion he could not help overhearing what the male elf was telling her. Frali felt a mixture of fear and anticipation of the journey ahead ruinning through him as he thought about the continuation. Would they have to face one of these shades of terrors? How would he pass such a confrontation and how did you fight these beings , if one had the courage to fight them at all?
Or would there be just orcs and spiders? Those he could kill without any problems - Frali had practise enough of that, young though he might be for a dwarf. He had his fair share of kills of these inhabitants of Mirkwood and wielded his axe quite skillfully. the young warrior's face lit slightly up with pride as he thought about the kills he had already achieved.
The pain in Frali's legs forced him back into reality as a low moan escaped his lips, as he followed his companions deeper into the palace.

Frali:
The young dwarf had remained silent during the long ride, even though he had been listening intently as long as he was not busy staying atop his pony which had proved to be more trustworthy than he had anticipated. Still, well-mannered as it was, the beast had sensed the insecurity of his rider and tried stop for grazing numerous times, and Frali had to use all his little skill and strength to keep the pony going and keep up with the Elves great steeds as good as possible.Else the ride had proved very peaceful and almost boring. the young dwarf wondered whether he would see any fighting during this journey. How should he gain honor and experience if he had not the chance to prove himself a worthy guardian and representative of his people?
His face lit up a bit as his eyes fell on Fainan who now whistled like a bird. The answering whistle from the woods told him that it was no bird he was hearing. Frali wondered what kind of people he would find here in the woods - of course he had heard the story of Thorin Oakenshield and his companions and the less than hospitable treatment they had fared.
Frali sighed audibly - he hoped that he would make no fool of himself by being rude or collapsing when getting down from his little steed due to stiff muscles. Now he was here , at the edge of Mirkwood, a place of dark rumors and violence by all accounts .. where would this stop lead to? Would the journey continue peacefully? Frali could not answer the questions that ran through his young mind , but he had to admit that he was grateful for a break in the ride.

Frali:
The young dwarf nodded and pulled the reins over the ponie's heads to give him a free head. The animal gave him a puzzled look as if he could not understand this freedom now , but then swished his tale and started to busy himself with the grass.

Frali:
Frali thought that King Dain had been joking when he had pointed to the young Dwarf and mentioned that a messenger was needed but the serious expression in the ruler's face and himself being pulled gently away by his old mentor Nari convinced him of the reality.
"Come, lad , I help ye get ready," the warrior said.
Being as good as his word, Nari made Frali get a large travelbag that could be rolled into an amazing small pack when it was not too full and started picking armor and weapons for the his young protegee to take along. There was a sturdy and solid looking mail coat, a heavy war axe with a sharp blade, a long knife in a sheath and the suitable legwear to go with it.
But there were also lighter travel clothes and blankets, intended for the time of rest and camp building such as there were on the road.
Quickly the two dwarves stuffed all items in the bag except for the mail coat , the shield and the weapons which Frali would wear openly during the ride. Since they were entering dangerous territorry the company would have to be ready to fight at any time and weapons were necessary to be close at hand.
Quicker than one would have thought possible everything was packed and the two dwarves on their way out to the stables - Nari carrying the bag which he strapped behind the saddle of the sturdy brown pony that had been prepared for Frali as mount.
Frali looked at the robust animal with definite unease. "Do I really have to ride that, Nari? I ' d rather run all the miles to Rivendell through the middle of Mirkwood and swim the length of the Lake and if i had to fight a whole army of orcs .."
Nari frowned :" You won' t have any choice, lad, the elves have fast horses and there is no way you can keep up with them on foot. You are to be part of their company and an additional guardsman for them , Frali. Don't forget that l, and - " he hesitated a short moment " After all you are a representative of our people and an official royal messenger, so you cannot walk alone for that reason."
Frali pondered the words of his old friend and sighed finally. "I guess you are right, then I will have to sit on this .. beast."
Carefully he stepped at the pony' s side , tried to pat his neck and take the reins, but the beast , feeling the insecurity of his future rider laid back its ears and snapped at him.
"Dont let him get away with this, " Nari warned , "else he will make your trip less than pleasant for you."
Frali pulled himself together , cuffed the pony between the ears and grabbed the reins very tightly and short. "You, " he said to the pony, "you and I will go an awfully long way and we better get used to each other, whether this is to our liking or not, so better behave."
With that he led the pony outside the dwarfish fortress towards the spot where Fainan was waiting.
Frali smiled shyly at her and said in what he hoped was a self - confident voice: "I am ready."

I wish you a very vey merry chrismas , valarites and guests Here it is windy and coldish but not too bad. We had a very nice chrismas dinner which was prepared by Bruce (chicken, roast potatoes , broccoli , stuffing and mixed vegetables followed by biscuits made by my mother and coffee) and tasted very nice indeed. Else we are respectively crossing the universe of Eve or fighting the evil burning legion in its various forms. The history of Azeroth unfolds as i received most of the published warcraft literature for chrismas It is intricate and compelling but Tolkien still rules the fantasy sky and without him azeroth would not have been born Merry christmas to you all (P.S. My apologies for not turning up on sunday but i completely forgot about it, shadow labs .. well ye ken the feeling.)
