Frali:
The young warrior nodded appreciatingly to the Elves and bowed to them as graceful as he could.
Then his glance fell on the orc again and after a bit of hesitation Frali searched for the head which he found a small distance away from the body. Grimly satisfied the dwarf picked up the grizzly trophy and found a stick with a sharp end not far from it.
"This should tell them not to come too close to us." With these words he firmly drove the sharp end of the stick into where the head should be attached to the body, and planted it as a land mark next to the fallen body.
This done, Frali wiped his sullied hands first on the wet grass to clean them and then on his clothes to dry of some of the humidity. Then he looked towards the Elves and asked with some grim satisfaction: "Are we ready to leave soon?"

Frali:
The young dwarf slowly woke up to reality , an uncomfortably wet and damp forest floor with angry neighing and whinning coming from the horses not too far from him.
Even though still confused Frali's first reflex was to check the state of his weapons - such was his training as warrior. To his fast focussing eyes now the weapon seemed in the same good state as ever, and good thing that it was!
He was still in a sitting position with his hand on the axe handle when a most surprising but not unwelcome object landed at his feet. The stench and grunts quickly brought the warrior to his senses and lunging at the orc he swung his axe in a slightly clumsy but mighty upright arch.
The orc scout had barely time for a last inarticulate noise before his head cleanly seperated from its usual place.
Frali scrambled to his feet and said sheepishly: "That's what i call a rude awakening.", while looking slightly embarassed and confused at the elves.

The first thing Corporal Finduilasse Ericsson was aware of was a gentle tinkling sound like the little bell he had given to his sister Urwendi when he was a lad of 8 and she little more than a toddler, three or four years old.
The paladin smiled melancholically or would have smiled when the realisation hit him - he couldnt smile, move, see or think because he was dead, or should have been.
There was a fight, many fights actually which had left their traces on the body of the the human, but he was always stronger than his opponents, ogres and orcs. Until they had grouped together and ganged up to form what was a small army and then cunningly had split up into three smaller groups that hunted him down in a deadly trap in Norwind Cleft, a small cave chamber without exit. Finduilasse remembered their faces, one more grotesque than the other, all learing and snarling unintelligible insults at him in their hideous language. Finally they silenced and turned to a green diminutive figure that handed ominous looking bundles with long fuses to each of the leaders. Goblins; traitorous as ever provided explosives for his captors, as they did for every one else. Finduilasse could do nothing but watch the explosives being set up expertly until he decided to retreat as far away of them as possible, crouching in a fetal position with his hands for protection over his head. He heard the fuses burn slowly nearer and nearer to his impending doom until .. a blinding flash, a mighty boom, then merciful darkness.
Now this sound, this childish bell and a gentle sound, a contrast that couldn't be stronger ... Both grew more intense by the minute and finally the light assembled itself into a bell shaped form with protrusions that would have counted as arms on a human being. The creature addressed the confused paladin in a voice that matched the bell soothingly: "Do not be afraid, young servant of the light. The plea of the one you love has been heard but we cannot save her ... "
Confused the paladin turned to the Naaru, for that who the being had to be: "What do you mean, noble one?" he asked. "Why am i here, wherever HERE is .. I mean, I died .."
The Naaru answered gently: "You have but taken a break, nobly earned as a loyal servant and soldier should. Forces stronger than I have decided you are needed again ... " Gravely the being turned to Finduilasse and continued to explain. "The one you call your sister pleaded for you, bought your life with her very soul. Young one, don' t be sad for it was the most noble gift she could present you with. Hold her memory in honour and pride, even though she now serves the one who wishes to destroy us and everything else."
Finduilasse gasped in horror and grief. His sweet little sister in the clutches of the lich king .. even one of his slaves. The Naaru sensed his emotions and soothed: "She didn't go willingly - they caught her with strong magic and enchantments even we cannot break. In his pride and arrogance the one we do not name granted her a last plea to the light and its creators .. " The being looked pointedly at Finduilasse and the young man slowly nodded as he finally understood, and tears began streaming down his now beardless face.
"Go, paladin," the Naaru said softly and pointed to a door that looked strangely familiar. "Learn anew, grow strong again and take the second chance you have been given."
With the bell tinkling gently in his ear Finduilasse passed the door of his old abbey and stepped out into Elwyn Forest to report for duty.

Frali:
The unlucky dwarf had no idea of the reality around him. To him it seemed that the beautiful elf maiden that had offered him a mug now held him tightly in her arms , offering warmth and comfort against the misbehaving weather.
The celebration around him went on and someone went on spraying around with some sparkly drink which now and again hit him (the rain that now had turned into a light drizzle) until someone obviously thought it was time to clear up and brought a broom (Fainan with her branch).
Good hearted and well behaved as the warrior was , Frali offered to take the broom , even though that meant losening the warm embrace (Frali reaches out for the branch).

Frali:
The young dwarf wasn't really sure whether to be relieved or dismayed that the crossing would be in a boat, since he was not happy about travelling on water. He was familiar with the story of his kinsman Gloin and his companions in the wild river down to the lonely mountains so many years ago, and ever since he thought of rivers or lakes something to be avoided.
Now he was really about to enter this nut shell , that was wet to the planks, thus offering no real support since slippery and a bank that had turned more and more into something resembling a place a wood pig would enjoy rolling in!
With Fainans help Frali managed to embark the tiny boat which seemed very crowded, even more so when he looked at the baggage at his feet. The dwarf clutched both slippery sides of the boat with both hands and resisted the temptation to close his eyes during the short crossing. He would not disgrace himself by showing his fear!
On hitting the bank Frali stood up with wobbly feet and groped for his bags under the plank that had served as his seat. As he wanted to put him self in an upright position with the bag in his hand he stood momentarily without support , when a rough wave rolled under the boat and threw him off balance.
Somehow he managed to grab the planks without losing his bag but as he continued to struggle for balance the his pack finally landed in the water and instinctively the warrior half fell out of the boat in a mud puddle and promptly landed headlong in the river.
The next moment he gazed upon a beautiful elven maid offering him a mug of good dwarfen stout and a hearty roast served on a wooden table while his body lay struggling near the close river bank , threatening to be bashed against the small boat.

Frali:
The young Dwarf had been enduring the rainy ride silently and with as much grace as he could muster, but in fact Frali was not happy at all and so he was more than willing to oblige Fainan's request.
He slid out of the wet saddle, losing nearly his foothold as he dismounted but could steady himself just in time by holding onto the pony.
The young warrior supressed any exclamation that betrayed his bad temper and put a brave smile on his face.
"At your side , Lord, and we will give anything that tries to disturb a suitable welcome.", Frali adressed Auros with his face turned towards Fainan, while patting his axe.

Frali:
Over the food and cleaning his gear, Frali had forgotten the time and only as he nearly fell asleep over the practiced routine of polishing his shield and his beloved axe, he realized that it was later than he thought. Longingly he looked at the comfortable bed in the room and decided to risk it to lie down for a bit .. just a bit he thought. It didn't take long for the young dwarf who was unused to long journeys, especially on horseback, or pony back rather, to sink in sleepy darkness.
After what seemed only a very short period a soft knock was to be heard at the door and the same elf who had shown him to this room now roused him gently with a warm refreshing drink and some bread.
"I leave u for some moments to enjoy your food, master dwarf, " the elf said. "You will be taken to the stable by one of your travel companions after you have eaten."
Frali thanked the elf politely and hurried to finish his breakfast and picked up his bags and weapons - axe , buckler and crossbow.
Just as the warrior gulped down the last of his drink and wiped his mouth there was a knock at the door and much his pleasant surprise Frali recognised the beautiful and friendly elf lady Fainan as his escort to the stable, where they arrived after a few moments in companionable conversation.

Frali:
The young warrior bowed to Auros as the Noldo gave his assent to him joining the company and turned back towards the Elven hall where he had left his travel pack. Just before he was out of earshot the Dwarf heard Auros' decision to accompany the two female Elves into Angmar and thought to himself that it would be wise to check his gear and weapons, as they surely would be needed on that road.
An Elf awaited the Dwarf and led him with kind words to a small chamber where food, some delicious wine and a washing bowl were prepared for him. Pleasantly surprised Frali indulged in the strange but delicious food and on observing his surroundings he discovered that his pack had been brought here as well. All seemed in good order, so the dwarf set on polishing his rather heavy axe and gave it a final sharpening. The same procedure was applied to his small round buckler and finally Frali checked the string and the trigger of his crossbow.
So the dwarf passed the final waiting time for their departure rather to his liking, and was expecting any time to be told to join the remaining company.

Frali:
Frali bowed politely at the beautiful strange elf and then turned to Auros and answered shyly: " My lord Auros, i shall not shirk away from any opportunity that i will get to practise my skill with the axe."
Almost tenderly he patted the short but sturdy and skillfully crafted weapon that hung from his side, before he continued: "I shall be glad of every opportunity to use this weapon on creatures that mean any of our people harm, be it frequent or infrequent." The young warrior's voice made it clear that he plainly would prefer the first.
"If you can make use of what little skill i have and since his majesty King Thandruil seems of the opinion my message is worth reaching Imladris safely, I hope i am welcome to be your travel companion again."

Frali:
Blushing Frali who had watched the two sparrers fascinated before finally approaching them the dwarf stepped into the open clearing and wanted to bow to Auros and Estarion when Fainan dropped out of a tree and threw him nearly off balance.
Just in time he caught himself and managed to keep his face as courteous and pleasant as possble, but his eyes betrayed a bit of bewilderment and amusement.
As gallantly as he could Frali bowed before Fainan before he turned to the Noldo and the Avar.
*My lady Fainan and my lords Auros and Estarion. I hope i have not interrupted your precious moments of relaxation"
The last was plainly addressed to the two fighters. "From warrior to warrior , even though i dare not compare my own weak skills with both yours, let me express my admiration of the skill you both displayed. " Respectfully and admiringly he nodded to the two Elves and wished yet again he could prove himself worthy of such exquisite company.
Then he turned to Fainan and gave her a shy smile "But nothing would surpass the pleasure of being in your presence again." Frali fell silent and blushed yet again. Slightly embarassed he waited for an answer from all parties adressed.

Frali:
Although Frali normally felt more than at home within mountain halls, the young dwarf was relieved to get out of the presence of the woodelves for the moment. He knew of course that they surrounded him everywhere unseen in trees and behind bushes He reflected slightly on the elven kings grace ful reaction to his offer to accompany Auros and his his companions. In fact, Thrandruil had seemed well pleased by his words and bearing, so of course he granted permission. And why shouldn't he? Frali would have been only another mouth to feed and an object of discomfort and mistrust in the closeness of the woodelves' halls.
But now of course he had to let Auros know that he was coming along with the travelling company and in that mission it was that Frali stepped now out in the forest.
After his breath of relief Frali tried to figure out where the Noldor had disappeared to, but his sharp ears perceived the faint ringing of swords meeting each other. His first reaction was to race quickly towards it with readied axe but on second thought he decided to approach carefully and with as little noise as possible. The warrior couldnt be sure whether it was enemy action he heard and in the heart of the woodelves' realm it seemed improbable. But the attack on the elven girl seemed to proove otherwise .. .
Sighing almost in audibly with his hands ready on his axe prepared to relief any orc of his head the Dwarf tiptoed towards the ringing of weapons.

A shame you cant vote for more than one style As I am listening mostly to (Power) Metal at the moment i cast my vote there, but as you know i am very variable in the styles of music i like. There is gaidhlig folk and choirs, scottish traditional folk, some classical stuff, even jazz and big bands when i am in the mood . I might have forgotten some but i guess that covers most hehe. Oh yeah , i even like some of the chart songs, grin.
