Greetings,
I was exploring the Barrow Downs for the first time yesterday and I met up with a few more Wights than I was prepared to handle... and one of them must of given me quite a bump to the head...its all a bit foggy after that but I woke up staring at quite an odd fellow...he spoke in rhymes in a sing songy way...it was all quite odd... Anyway while I was staring wide eyed at this odd fellow, I met a couple of really nice folks from Valar Guild. One in particular invited me to stop by and so here I am. I must say this is a lovely place you have here.
Well I just wanted to let you know I was here, incase someone see's me wandering around and thinks I'm a burglar or something...I personally would think the huge two handed hammer strapped to my back and Atuc my standard bearer following me around like a lost puppy would prevent that kind of mistaken identity, but times being what they are, one can never be too carefull...

Mae govannen, Syriuthir! ...after that but I woke up staring at quite an odd fellow...he spoke in rhymes in a sing songy way...it was all quite odd... *laugh* I know well of whom you speak, for that is my very good friend Iarwain Ben-adar, best known to the folk in Buckland and environs as 'Tom Bombadil'. Old Tom Bombadil is a merry fellow, Bright blue his jacket is, and his boots are yellow. None has ever caught him yet, for Tom, he is the master: His songs are stronger songs, and his feet are faster.I will give you the same advice that Iarwain gives to others, "Don't you go a-meddling with old stone or cold Wights or prying in their houses, unless you be strong folk with hearts that never falter!" To his advice I would add, when or if you do go prying in their houses, be sure to take true and loyal friends with you!

Ahha!!! That is the one indeed, old Tom...he quite startled me at first...I mean I awoke from my haze and he was standing right there...never had my eyes seen such a...man? Hmm no, that doesn't seem right to me at all...well anyway his hospitality was well enough I supose..
As for those cold wights in their old stone homes...I will heed the warning and bring some friends that are strong of heart next time I go looking for something in the Barrows...but I did find what I sought there before they so cleverly talked me into leaving...
Actually this brings up a sore subject for me, ye see...well the mention of friends that is...I don't seem to have many...*looks down a little* I'm not really from the Bree-lands and I don't know many folk I guess...I have done my part to right that as best I could, but other than the small folk that I have helped in Staddle, and some minor accolades placed on me as the hero of Archete, which I swear on the memory of my father I really didn't do much but fight off a few brigands...well my point is the one I spoke of from Valor Guild who invited me by to see the place was really the first friendly adventuring type I have met..well...anywhere really...perhaps I just need to meet some more people I guess *lets out a deep sigh*
Anyway, well met kind elf...it is my pleasure to be a guest here.

This saddens my heart, but that is how things are. If you are kind and friendly to strangers, young Syriuthir, you will eventually find that there are a goodly number of honest, decent, noble, and caring folk who will be happy to call you friend. If you seek to join the Valar Guild, of which myself am only a very recent member, then seek Lady Fainan, our kinship leader, or one of the officers. I do not know them well, but the roster lists many noteworthy names including Ancbeard, Belegur, Irmohir, and Melko/Melcor. I trust that one of them shall be able to assist you.

Hail Syriuthir! I remember that meeting. You were enjoying your first sight of Tom Bombadil and brought back the memories of the first time Dirhavel and I (Fainan) had run into beloved folk from the books. We had to greet you as a kindred spirit. You can catch us in LotRO again for fun or even joining if you like. Also, feel free to drop by our AIM meetings Sundays at 5pm EDT. Instant message VardaValar1 or invite yourself into chatroom Valar Guild Meetingplace. See you in Middle-earth! Varda aka Fainan
