Mob tapping

A bit of a storm has come up regarding the subject of mob tapping and I thought we should all be aware of it.
Apparently, when someone "taps" a mob and turns its name and XP bar gray, it is still not safe to lend them a hand unless there is REAL NEED to do so. When someone other than the player or fellowship that has tapped a mob attacks it, the XP earned from its death is CUT IN HALF.
Turbine defends this as necessary to prevent powerleveling, and says they do not play to change it.
So, if the boar I am killing might grant me 120 XP (240 with a blue bar) and you decide to be helpful and send an arrow into it hoping to shorten my fight, what you do is drop it to 60 XP. Even if I do 99.99% of the killing, I lose 50% of the XP because of your single attack.
Healing the player does this, so does buffing the player, and debuffing the mob. ALL of these cut XP earned by half.
Personally, I will no longer be aiding other players with heals or damage unless 1) I can plainly see they are in dire need, 2) they request the aid, 3) I know the player personally, or 4) I wait until they have killed the mob themselves (in the case of healing them).
I certainly would not be angry with any member of my kinship that decided to help me with a mob, if they saw me fighting. All of the Free Peoples of Middle Earth must fight as one to hold back the advance of Angmar.
But do not be surprised, friends, if you seek to help someone and instead get yelled at. Just keeping everyone informed.
