As mentioned at the meeting, we are already collecting money to finance Guild operations. The banker is my character Kalasul. All contributions to the Guild funds should be mailed to Kalasul. Don't worry, he's standing by a mailbox :}
These funds will be used for various Guild operations, the most immediate of which is to purchase our tabard design. This money will also be used to purchase tabards for primary characters of Valar Guild members. Tabards for secondary characters may be considered should we have enough input into the Guild funds. However, our focus will be given to primary characters.
I'd also like to add a bit of ceremony to awarding a member his tabard, but that will come in another thread.
The main purpose of this thread is to make you aware we are collecting for the Guild, and to ask that each of you contribute what and when you can. There's no set amount, maximum or minimum. We all have different different play schedules, so not everyone can make 80 gold before they log out for the night. Your 10 silver whenever you have spare change is just as welcome as someone throwing 2 gold at us, because we are all working for the same thing: the improvement and success of the Valar Guild. Unless we work together, however, we will not succeed.
The second purpose to this thread is to ask for opinions on what else Guild funds should pay for. Feel free to prioritize your thoughts, as not all can be given equal consideration, unless everyone is contributing a few gold a week, anyway :}
An example of something our funds may need to eventually pay for is Guild housing. This is not in the current release of WoW, but as I recall, it was a feature planned by Blizzard, and it will likely find its way in the game eventually. Maintaining the house would be a main priority, along with providing tabards to members.
Providing funding for official guild tradesmen was also an idea, but it was rejected because 1.) it was suggested at the meeting this could create cries of favoritism and 2.) most ingredients for tradeskills are found in the wild anyway.
This should be enough to begin the discussion.
Take care.
