That's ancient Greek for "rejoice". In other words, "hello". I stumbled across this site (haven't even so much as looked at it) doing the google-drift thing.
Tolkien was an _extreme_ influence during my formative years (I trace my interest into the origin of words to him). In fact, I actually enjoyed the Silmarillion. 'course, I was hungry for anything Elvish.
As for my moniker, it is from Greek literature. Autolykos was Odysseus' grandfather and was where he learned to elaborate upon the truth. Autolykos was, of course, Hermes' son (I forget by whom--some nymph, I guess) and lying came naturally to him.

It's good to see that you found your way to the Forum, Autolykos! It's too bad your Linux won't support AIM, but this is also a good way to chat ,with the advantage of having time to think and look up things.
