On Sunday (Sept 14, 2004) Grimbold and I said farewell to the WoW Beta Stress Test and all the fun we had playing it over the past week and a half.
We played 6 characters each together (Grimbold had even more :-P) and tried out many of the skills and trades (soon to be changed to professions) and had a blast! I found the gameplay difficult at first, not being used to using keys to move and getting used to all the different aspects of the game. But after a while I got the hang of it and enjoyed figuring out how to do trades (like mining/smelting/engineering and skinning/leathercrafting). The former allowed me to mine copper and stones to make bullets and dynamite, while the latter allowed me to skin defeated enemy beasts and make leather kits to upgrade armour. Teaming up with Grimbold and others on quests was definitely a must in some cases, as there were MANY enemies to defeat. Also, Hunter classes were allowed to tame pets, which was a boon and in some areas you got to use Gryphons and other flying beasts to travel to areas far away to continue questing! Many times I simply slapped a 'follow' onto Grimbold and let him do the scouting while I enjoyed the scenery! :-P Once in a while I reciprocated <heh>. Some of the transitions to new areas proved to be VERY difficult, showing that they need to still work out issues with balance between monsters in one area and another.
All in All, it turned out to be quite addictive and enjoyable, as we know these games can be <snortle> but I definitely recommend trying to get on the next open beta test coming up soon (check their web site at: www.worldofwarcraft.com/
for more details).
Following are some snapshots from our escapades for anyone that wishes to view them:

Let me know what you think!
