hey you guys its Thranduil and i wanna note that i dont think that the WOW devs want Tolkien fantasy mixed with warcraft's fantasy. I guess we can come up with a similar name just for world of warcraft. Due to an immense number of clans/guilds i suggest we act quickly. here is a link to all the guild/clan of WOW www.tenetri.com/TCT/Forum/viewtopic.php?p=19#19anyways if we are to do this our tag should stay the same but perhaps under a different heading. I'm gungho for Valar Guild and have nothing against it but I've had some previous misshaps by mixing two fantasy novels in one game. If you agree or disagree or even have any suggestions/opinions answer back.

We are the Valar Guild, and our basis is Tolkien. There's just no getting around it, and I don't intend to :}
This doesn't mean we will necessarily go around saying "Gandalf sent me" or similar but I do intend for us to have Tolkien involved in our operations. I take this to mean you're interested in WoW and so I'll make a note to include you in the e-mail discussion when I send it out :}
As for mixing Tolkien Fantasy with WoW, they've done it themselves in the very conception of the World :} It is not exactly like Tolkien, no, but there are connections, and many of the creators of Warcraft are no doubt fans of Tolkien.
Take care. Eonwë

right there Eonwe! if no mixing of any fantasy book / game was allowed in the game, not many people would sign up, but for those WC addicts. mixing fantasy with a fantasy game is inexorable (I think. It should mean intertwined or some such

If WoW frowns on Tolkien names, as seems unlikely, we already have a solution.
WoW players could use the same names they use in Middle-earth Online. They are similar to our regular guild names. Take what you know of the character or his/her's name meaning and use a Tolkien language. For instance, I can use Fainan, meaning "I emit light".
