How about a Turtle Run? Only 1 target to focus on getting FM's.

Turtle is very fast, so we could squeeze it in and still do our usual thing. I bet there are some in our little group who have not even experienced the turtle. I could be wrong on that part though; I'm not keeping up with everyone right now What always took so long with the turtle was putting the group together The turtle itself is still a 5-10 minute kill, with 10 being "people don't know what they're doing" -pippin

I am planning on being there. Unless the kid decides to surprise me from college again this weekend. I really don't have a favorite skirm. They are all pretty much new to me, so you guys decide. I'm pretty easy to get along with.

Running the dragon raid has several points that are important. One of those being the FM's. If you do not have a member of the raid who has the FM's already known and in their FM list, then it makes it harder to complete from the start. Next, executing the FM's in a very timely manner is also key. there are only two colors to the FM's...yellow and red. Since the FM group will all be bunched up at the dragon's body when the Burg in the group hits the FM's, distance from the FM can't be an excuse. Running 12 and 6-man raids are of little help to practicing for the dragon raid unless folks are hitting yellows and reds for FM's. If you are a class that is out of range for those, then you are of no use practicing dragon raid FM's...period. And not all toons in the raid need to hit the FM's...only the 6 in that group.
Next, an experienced "bottom" leader is needed to follow the upper tank/healer duo when the Dragon moves during phase 1 & 2. I can do this now that I was put I that position after following for several runs. However, an experienced upstairs tank and healer is key to the fight.
My good friend Xax from Hobbitual has been very gracious and patient in taking along and teaching numerous players on how to master this raid. Nim, Irmo,Maha and myself have all run and succeeded with him as the leader. I believe than any kinmate wishing to successfully run and learn that raid should reply to his LFF's when he puts them up. Perhaps from those experiences we can get a tank/healer combo to run the top part for phase 1 & 2.
Honestly, that's the only part of this raid we can't yet teach one another on how to do it. The notes Varda told me about had 2 tanks on the top layer....I've never seen this but I guess in the early days it was necessary. All runs I've been on have 1 tank and 1 healer up top...and 6 to 10 folks down below (yes..6..,the loot goes farther when the numbers are smaller and I've been on 8-man's in there that win and had to roll 3x for all the loot ot be gone:-).
This is not a difficult raid to beat.

My favourite squirmishes:
Attack at Dawn Prancing Pony Breaching the necromancer's Gate
And aye to what Galdor said about Draigoch. What we seem to need most now is a guardian actually being able to tank the head and lead the show around. Irmogar is not up to that yet.

I like Defence of the Prancing Pony Breaching the Necromancer's Gate Assault on the Ringwraith's Lair Attack at Dawn.
Skirms that I also like, but I think are rather difficult in raids: Battle in the Tower Rescue in Nurz Gashu Thievery and Mischief
I am sure some of these are can be made easy if you only know the "trick" and practice a bit. Like for Thievery and Mischief the trick seems to be to bring 4 guardians and just wear them down while interrupting their heals. However I prefer leaving the experimenting and making tactics part to fixed groups like those raiding kins have.

Pip- Good point, perhaps when we have some of our lower level guild members on, we run the Turtle and have them join us for credit and experience. Galdor- Useful information, I will try and catch the dragon raids if I see Xax on. Perhaps in time he will trust me to heal him so that I may learn the upper portion. I prefer to stay out of GLFF, I like my brain cells <winks>
Posted the line-up for this weekend.

Miriel - I share your opinion of GLFF I never have it on. Fortunately, Xax asks in Dunland LFF, that is where I have seen him anyway. The Turtle would be fun, I have never beaten that one and, as you said, a good way to possibly include some lower level members.

Assault on the Ringwraith's Lair Ok, I should share some tips about the end boss: It is a Cargul, i suppose, and as you fight him he will call his drake to come assist him. Just like the Gondamon skirmish, you may fight them one at a time if you do the following: 1. All pets and soldiers that are not ranged are dismissed, preventing them from running around and aggroing. Cut your guardians and warriors loose. Keep herbalists and archers. Sages... I think they prefer not to melee?
2. Everyone moves past the main boss all the way to the wall behind him. Fight close to the wall and the drake will not aggro you.
Just like Gondamon, we can then pick off the boss first, then his dragon. The boss will go green a few times and grow in size, not sure what it means but it's not a hard fight.
I have no idea how hard this is if we get all of them at once because HumtyDumpty the dwarven warrior fool runs around both dragons to reach the boss. I suppose we could find out at some point, but for now I recommend we choose the easy way <smiles>Edit:
This seems to have changed. Someone was saying on today's raid that the dragon will aggro us no matter what we do, when the boss is around 80.000 health. I was suggested that any melee soldiers walking around might actually help keeping the dragon occupied for a few seconds, so it could be beneficial to keep all sodiers.
The point about everyone moving past the main boss all the way to the wall behind him and fighting there should still be valid advice, methinks. It should help keeping the dragon away for three quarters of the fight. Just don't expect the dragon to never show up.

Concerning practicing fm's in a bunched up group, perhaps Amon Sul 6-mans during the week?
We also have to be willing in any fellowship maneuver to take our assigned number of the 6 and stick with it, even if the color is not in our comfort zone and we have to move to hit it. If the character is in an induction, he can move or jump to get out of it. Hit the fm as soon as possible. These two things keep the rest of the fellowship from being stuck as punching bags for adds.

Concerning practicing fm's in a bunched up group, perhaps Amon Sul 6-mans during the week? Amon sul stil has the challenge of multiple mobs we will have trouble getting everyone to target, turn and move to the CJ mob. To practice CJs, maybe we could just let the burglar open up on any random grey con elite like a Gwiber in Enedwaith?

This could be a good idea. Perhaps we can put up the Dragon FM's. I have them, but am unsure if those that don't would get them added to their list.
