Tonight (i.e., May 6th), starting sometime around 8:00 p.m. EST, Maedhroc (along with Shamat and whomever else may want to come) will be back in Angmar for those pesky group quests! We're going to start with the book quests and try to get everyone through 1.6 - 1.8, and then with whatever time we have left we'll go through whatever group quests we can find, probably around Donnvail or Maethad.
Join us! It'll be fun, dangerous, and grindy!
Also, there may be an Urugarth run Saturday night -- stay tuned for details.

Ever notice that Angmar has a TON of full fellowship quests? Especially around Donnvail, the Arena, and of course the big finish for Books 1.7 and 1.8?
Here comes your chance to wipe 'em out! Maedhroc Thornhollow is calling all like-minded Valarim or friends to come and take on the zone from top to bottom Saturday. Depending on how many we get and how long it runs, we may also make forays into Carn Dum or the Rift.
Join us! Help give the Witch King's Steward and all the lackeys of Angmar what-for! Get your Council of the North rep up and earn your Gath Forthnir horse!

Maedhroc hit level 48 last night, which meant it was time to head for Eregion! I've been itching to get there for some time; when I was reaching my wits' end with Galadhalion, Eregion was the one bright spot, and for all its bugs and quirks, I absolutely love the place. It's not as large as some of the other zones, having largely been seen by the devs as a "speed bump" on the way to Moria, but what it does have is a very distinctive feel that just hits all the right notes with me. It's not the gently pastoral feel of the Shire, nor the rugged wilderness of the Trollshaws or Misty Mountains, but it is verdant and vibrant, unlike the gray wastes of Angmar or the brown emptiness of the North Downs or the Lone Lands. The zone it is most like is probably Evendim, actually, but without the relentless aggro or having to swim back and forth across a huge lake three times for every quest.
Eregion is also the zone that provides the most on-level content for me at the moment. Deeper parts of Angmar and Forochel have some, but I have to work harder to get to it and I'm just not as interested in those areas. Of course, questing in Eregion also opens up Moria and gives you access to legendary weapons ... in short, it gets you closer to Running With the Big Boys.
So my current plan is to base Maedhroc in Eregion for a while, long enough to get him through Vol II Book II, hopefully hit level 50 or higher, and get him started on his legendary weapon(s). From there it will be back to Angmar in order to continue with the Vol I book quests and his class quest, as well as enabling him to join those Rift runs that some of the kinnies are doing with Lhee's folk.
Maedhroc reeeeallly wants that Rift armor set! :-o___ <-- drooling
Yes, I want to eventually get to Moria too. But honestly, after skipping so much of the high-end content with Galadhalion, with Maedhroc I want to go back and do it all. Which means going through all of Angmar, Forochel, Goblin-Town, Helegrod, Sarnur ... heck, he'll probably end up going back and doing the starter content in Ered Luin at some point. Just because! Once he hits the level 60 cap, there's no reason to pick any one quest over another besides "Would it be fun or not?"

I've got Fornost on my list, but there isn't a specific scheduled event for it yet. Dol Dinen runs have been happening off and on "when we can" over the past week.
I'll try to set up another scheduled run either later this week or next weekend. Watch this space!

Sorry we didn't see you, Halbarad! It was a great run. Leadership by Poppilyn and Fanuilos, tankage by Shamat and yours truly, healing and DPS provided by a father-daughter team we recruited from LFF and who may end up joining the Guild ... it was a great night! We took down Grimbark twice (!) thanks to a server hang, completed a ton of grinding quests, devastated Ivar the Red Hand, and put the Red Maid to rest. We didn't escort Sara Oakheart -- just about the only thing in the place we didn't do -- because it was the wee hours and for just about everybody the screen was starting to look like they'd drunk from the Inn League Keg. Big thanks to everyone for making the run such a success! -MaedhrosV

Hey, Lothiriel! If you're still interested in Garth Agarwen, I'm going to try to set up a GA group Saturday night. I've already done the book quests there; this is primarily to finish off the stuff that I haven't ever been able to do on any character, specifically Grimbark, Ivar, and the Red Maid. Anyone else is more than welcome to come! -MaedhrosV

Unfortunately, my week is "all up in the air" right now -- I probably won't be available until Wednesday or later. That said, if either of these are going then, I'd love to be in on them. I will also soon be looking for Helegrod, Carn Dum, and the Rift, although the latter two will have to wait for me to get through enough of Book VI to be able to get around Angmar. Right now I'm trying to finish off Book V, which will probably be my priority when not going on kinship runs. -The Gneech

As you may know, Galadhalion lost his house during one of my extended absences. However, Maedhroc Thornhollow has since purchased a nice little hobbit-hole at 1 Harrow Road, Flaxenfoot Neighborhood, Shire Homesteads. EDIT: Maedhroc's moved! Needing somewhere to store all those trophies, he's bought a larger house, this one at 6 Chalk Road, Pearbridge, Shire Homesteads. Come on by, there are biscuits in the cupboard! Admire Sambrog's Helm, feed the pesky dormouse. -MaedhrosV

o/` In the middle of the Earth in the land of the Shire was born a scrappy little hobbit who had a heart of fire With a long pointy stick and an aggro-grabbin' yell he gives The Boot to his enemies and sends 'em straight to hell, Oh!
Maedhroc! Maedhroc Thornhollow! Only three feet tall! Maedhroc! Maedhroc Thornhollow! The most butt-kickin' hobbit of them all!
Now hobbits are peace-lovin' folk ya know but sometimes there are monsters and they've got to go So Maedhroc hunkers down and he chucks his spear then he teaches all those goblins 'bout the Wages of Fear, Oh!
Maedhroc! Maedhroc Thornhollow! Only three feet tall! Maedhroc! Maedhroc Thornhollow! The most butt-kickin' hobbit of them all!
Well he battled with bandits! He ambushed some trolls! He riddled with Bilbo! Some giants' Lucky Stone he stole! He chased down a Nazgul beat up trees in Old Forest Fought a giant turtle in a dead king's tomb, Oh!
Maedhroc! Maedhroc Thornhollow! Only three feet tall! Maedhroc! Maedhroc Thornhollow! The most butt-kickin' hobbit of them all! o/`

I think some of the characters are very black-and-white, but I also think that's perfectly fine because some real people are, as well. But none of them are perfect in any sense. Frodo is quite nasty to Gollum at first; Aragorn spends much of the transition between Fellowship and Two Towers whining about what a crappy day he's having. Legolas and Gimli are famously pregnant dogy at each other. The list goes on. The stories of Middle-earth aren't navel-gazing exercises, that's certainly true. The drowning of Frodo's parents doesn't turn him into a hydrophobe; Sam doesn't go around feeling like he has to struggle against the bourgeoisé. In the end, the heroes of the story are still heroes, and they have to be to get through everything they do. And there are plenty of real people out there in the world who are cut from the same cloth. -The Gneech

One more addition for me: Galadhros, who is intended to be an eventual replacement for Galadhalion.

o/` Lalia, oh Lalia what the heck is wrong with you? You lost your cloak You lost your mind And to rescue you is a waste of time Oh Lalia I'm leaving you to the wights
Lalia, oh Lalia why do you do the things you do? You go off chasing some dead prince Your gullibility makes me wince Oh Lalia Stop cowering, help me fight
Lalia, oh Lalia what the heck is wrong with you? I rescued you and your dad paid but you're back in the Barrows the very next day Oh Lalia I'm leaving you to the wights... o/`
