Well, made some good progress of my own. Got the spineclaw pet, picked up a few more common items on the way, and got Huolon's mount this week. Because I'm skipping all the permanent toybox-stuff until 6.0 when they no longer stuff my inventory, I only require the green ash from Jadefire, the glinting pile of stone from the cliffdwellers, and the 4 weather stones. And to be honest, if I get the rest before the cliffdwellers, I'll probably skip those too because they'll be much easier to solo in the expansion.

Calion:
"I do not know," Calion replied to Frali. "But we won't be able to linger for too long, because the danger to both our homes continues to grow. Fainan seems eager to go, but there are still some things to research and consider, like the sword. And I don't know if Meren's prepared to leave."
He gave a smile, and continued. "But I've only just sent out some of our winged allies, so you should have at least a day yet. I suggest you make the most of it!"

Calion:
After some soft-spoken but lengthy inquiries, Calion learned that the immediate area around Rivendell was clear as expected, but few birds had ventured further north in recent times. It was not dangerous for them, because they could hear Orc and beast alike from miles away; they were not the most subtle of creatures. But winter was coming on and the north was cold, while the valley of Rivendell was pleasant and fruitful.
But Calion convinced some of the birds to make scouting trips ahead of where the party would be going, pay special attention to any Orcish presence, and possibly return within a day. Rivendell hosted kind and compassionate animals, and the birds, as much the Elves of the valley, would gladly lend their aid for the safety of their relatives across the misty mountains. And of course, the promise of reward in the form of food and gratefulness also helped.
As they went on their way, Calion turned back and nodded to a slightly puzzled Bilbo, who was no doubt wondering what he had just seen taking place here. Moving on he spotted the three laughing dwarves also coming from the training ground, and approached them. "Master Frali!" he said. "I see you have found your kinsmen. I hope you all are finding yourself comfortable in these Elven lands?"

eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/argent-dawn/Calaron/achievement#97:15113:a8728Not quite halfway, I think, though I still have a fair few. My priorities are the same as Eonwe. My bags are pretty full so I'm not interested in all the little trinkets and vanity items, until the Toy Box comes in 6.0. I have been working at the pet-dropping rares quite a bit, and there at least I'm further ahead. I only still need the Spineclaw (which is a wholly different situation than the others) and, yes, the Froglet you just picked up, which I'm working on now Though the mount from Huolon would be nice too.

Calion:
Getting up from the bench after witnessing the recent conversation between Fainan and the Noldor, Calion bowed in goodbye to Bilbo, and strolled over to where Auros and Fainan were watching the retreating back of Malril.
"Worry not," he told Fainan, after arriving at her side. He lowered his voice to a whisper so Auros might not notice, and continued in the Silvan tongue. "If the Noldor will not speak to us, we may have other ways to scout the area, though perhaps not over too great distances. And if we're desperate, there might even be ways to find out what the scouts know, without having to complain to Elrond." He glanced at some of the trees spaced neatly amid Rivendell, or specifically the birds that were settled within them, and even back at Bilbo Baggins of quick eye. Grinning, he added, "I'm starting to make resourceful friends here."
With that said, Calion gave a nod to Auros and Fainan, walked to a tree and engaged in what appeared to be from the outside a one-sided conversation.

Calion:
As he wandered for some time through the nature surrounding Rivendell, Calion let his mind wander as well, processing the information he'd learned. From what he had read, the Houseless would have been disembodied, rebellious Elves, working independently or alone under Morgoth's service, and would have a much more difficult time taking an unwilling Elven body than this one appeared to have. All this was much to take in already, for the secrets of the feär were not widely known in Mirkwood.
And yet... this one appeared different. This.. sorcerer, or necromancer, was in a position of authority, and not some pathetic spirit as the lowliest of Sauron's minions. He was arrogant, and powerful, having already shown a glimpse of the shadowy powers Angmar or Mordor must have given him. And something else; he had addressed members of the party as "Elf". The racial disdain made it clear that whatever he was before relocating his spirit, Elven origin was unlikely. As for Calaron communing with him, accepting him willingly? That seemed ridiculous. The ring played a part in that, perhaps. There was power in it, some sort of conduit for magical possession?
On a hunch, Calion had looked into any literature he could find, scarce though it was, on the Rings of Power. The great ones all seemed to be accounted for, or too important for Sauron to let some henchman use it, or risk it falling in Elven hands. But the lesser ones... there was little known of them. It was assumed that Sauron had seized many of them, and perhaps some of his servants were allowed to use them as tools for their own plans, or to further Sauron's own designs. The one on Calaron's hand would certainly fit that description.
So, Calion concluded, retrieving that ring was a valid objective of the mission. Even if it didn't help Calaron, keeping it safe or, if possible, destroying it, would help prevent this happening again, and perhaps remove even the slightest part of Sauron's power.
With this in mind, Calion finished his exploration of the wildlife. Turning back towards the halls of Imladris, his eye fell on a small but familiar figure sitting on a bench. It was certainly more wrinkled of skin and grey of hair than he remembered, but there was still the glint in his eye, hinting of a burglar who had managed to roam Thranduil's caves unseen for some time.
"Mr Baggins, correct?" he said as he sat next to the hobbit and smiled, and the birds and squirrels who had accompanied him on his walk settled in the nearby trees. "My name is Calion, son of Pharion, of the wardens of Mirkwood. You may not remember me now, since I'm sure you met many Elves when you visited our corner of the world, but we did talk once, riding back from the Lonely Mountain. You had caused quite a stir!"
Bilbo laughed. "I'm afraid I do not remember you, lad. I have no recollection of your name in the notes for my book, and my memory has been abandoning me of late. I am older than you, though undoubtedly you have lived for many more years than I have. But I am quick enough of eye and mind still. You are a member of Auros' party, are you not, having just arrived from the East? I hope your journey has gone well, and your business here is not too bad?"
"It has been eventful, Mr. Baggins. But our mission is classified, and I'm afraid I cannot be too generous with its details. But I will tell you, if you care to listen, that there is family of mine involved, and I worry." A thought struck Calion, and surely there was no risk here, now, in telling this hobbit? "And there is... a ring. Tell me, do you know anything about rings? I vaguely remember seeing you fiddle with one back on our shared journey, though likely it was just an ordinary one from your share of the treasure."
Upon hearing this, Bilbo frowned, and a shadow fell on his face. "I doubt it was anything like my ring, my friend." He looked up and winked. "But that too is classified, and I cannot share any more. So let us speak of happier things!"
And they talked and reminisced, and laughed, and shared tales of what had happened to them since the battle at Erebor so long ago. Calion enjoyed himself, and his worries were lightened for a short while.
Then Bilbo pointed to someone coming up the path from the direction of the nearby combat range. "Someone from your party is coming to find you, it seems." "Indeed," Calion replied. When Fainan arrived, he said "I'm sorry, I did not know it was time for departure already. And Mister Baggins here has been keeping my time occupied!" he added with a wink to the hobbit.

Calion:
It was not too long after Fainan's departure that Calion finished going through yet another book. With any relevant information noted down, he put it aside, before staring in front of him in thought. It was all a puzzle, but most of the pieces were probably there now, and the image was getting a bit clearer; he needed some time to let it settle.
He stood up and said to Meren, who was still nose-deep in a pile of scrolls and books, "I too shall take a break for now. We might not have a lot of time before our next journey, and I simply cannot pass on an opportunity to study the surroundings of Imladris while we are here." And with a nod he headed for the exit of the library. In passing he ventured a brief smile at Auros, who had just entered. 'One more reason to be outside for a while,' he thought with a smirk, after making sure his face wasn't visible anymore. Silently greeting Fainan just outside the library, he headed into the open air.
Once outside, Calion took in the sights. It was nature, of a sort, but not as he knew it. There were trees, and grass, and animals, but it was all ordered and consistent. Perfect, one might say. So this was the "magic" of Lord Elrond. Of the Noldor. The treasures of the world, but built, managed and conserved in their own vision, in an ordered structure, seemingly controlled in every way by the people who lived there. He snorted. People who think they're better at nature than nature itself. Still, it felt welcoming and safe, which was fitting for the city, if it could be called that, and its reputation as a Homely House. So Calion decided not to let it bother him, as he strolled further into the valley, with the sun in his face, and a couple of interested squirrels trailing him.

Calion:
Startled out of his concentration, Calion looked up from his reading and smiled faintly at Fainan. "That sounds good. A short break will be most welcome." Standing up from the table, while leaving the book open on the current page, he added, "there is only so much knowledge one can absorb in one sitting. It will do me good to have some time to sort my thoughts."
As they walked out of the library, Calion said, "For example, let me tell you about what I discovered some twenty minutes ago..."

Calion:
Giving a swift bow, Calion smiled at the master of Imladris, and spoke. "Thank you, Lord Elrond, for your hospitality and the access to your library. Though I am eager to perform the task King Thranduil has put on us, and also to find my brother and free him from what has taken hold, perhaps one of these Houseless you speak of, it will be good to prepare. If we don't know what we will be facing, one of us might be next to fall possessed. And even if we find and detain him, it might do us no good if we don't know how to solve his condition. The knowledge in this room might be our greatest weapon in times to come."
Looking down at one of the books, he added, "I just hope it will not be too late, for my brother or our main objective."
Letting himself relax, Calion's eye caught the daylight coming from one of the window, and curiosity caught him. If, after all this reading, there was still time before the departure, he would have to go out and explore. But for now, there was at least one book to explore instead.

Calaron#2440
Just a li'l demon huntress called Caliona in Europe so far and none in the US. My plan was to start in Europe, and then join US if we could coordinate it in the meeting or something. But I haven't played for a few days now, and probably won't until certain bugs are fixed.
That's the beauty of casually playing non-subscription games. It's easy to just take a break for a while when things go wrong.

Calion:
With a quick, polite bow before Legolas, Calion spoke: "It is good to see you again, my lord. I hope Rivendell has treated you well."
Standing straight and looking into the Prince's eyes, he continued: "To answer your question, I'm afraid my brother's behavior and strange new powers appear to make it very clear. As you know, sir, our families have always respected each other, and you have met Calaron in your father's Halls more than once. I don't know how well you know him, but I can promise you he is not himself.
"When we met Calaron in the Forest, after reports of him being overrun by enemy troops to the west, he appeared to be leading a sizable ambushing force of orcs and spiders. He surrounded himself with an aura of shadow, which we sensed is related to the reek that Lady Fainan just reported on, though in a more concentrated form. The shadow was also in his eyes and his voice. He spoke not as my brother but more as a different entity, taunting us about how he kept my brother a prisoner under his control, about serving the Dark one, and that he was interested in lord Auros' mission. Also, when forced to retreat, he showed a certain control over the shadow around him, knocking me back with a strange blast of force from his hand and not leaving a trace as he vanished."
Lowering his voice and his eyes, almost talking to himself, Calion added: "And there was a strange ring on his finger as he did so, with an evil look to it. My brother does not wear rings, as a scout; any jewelry simply gets in the way, or is too easily lost in fast travel. I suspect that this ring is connected to his new abilities or the possession in some way." Making eye contact with Legolas again, Calion concluded: "I hope to find out more about such a thing here in Rivendell, by your and lord Elrond's permission."

Calion:
Though he looked forward to the famed hospitality of Rivendell, and desired to explore the House and surroundings further, Calion decided it was a good idea to meet with Prince Legolas first. They had known each other for a long time, and though Legolas being a Sindarin prince had put limitations on familiarity even as they were younger, Calion was eager to catch up with an old friend. Perhaps the Prince might even have further insight in the matter of Calaron's situation, whom he had also known personally.
"I will also join you, Lady Fainan," Calion replied. "I'm sure the Prince will gladly hear our news from home, even though some of it is quite grim." He turned to Meren. "And afterwards, I'm sure there will be plenty of time to look around," he added.

I'll vote for "Angmar Bound" or "Stirring in the North". Both seem to fit the mood best.

Calion:
Looking on the vale of Imladris, Calion could not help but let happiness fill his heart, drowning out the sorrow and worry that had plagued him since the events in Mirkwood, even if just for a little while.
A smile crept on his face as he watched the surroundings of the House of Lord Elrond. Calion had never seen it before; while he had heard many stories about Rivendell from travelling diplomats or the Sindarin nobles ruling Mirkwood, who still remembered it from their own journeys, his Silvan people seldom went far from the great forests, and to see the wonders on the other side of the Misty Mountains was a rare experience.
The stories did not do it much justice, as he would find out on closer inspection. Coming from a realm of caves and tree-dwellings, with the only stone buildings he had known being of human make, he was baffled by the grand structures of the Noldor: truly the great artists and architects of Elvenkind, for all their faults.
He felt keen on exploring the place as well as the surrounding groves, but that would have to wait until after more urgent business. Pulling himself together, he turned to Estarion and answered: "Yes, it is. We have reached our current destination."
