Guild Questing Destination: Zul'Farrak
Questers:Eonwë (as Auros, Human Paladin), Varda (as Fainan, NE Hunter), Ulmo (as Neiqui, NE Druid), Arathorn (up to scarab room) (as Arathornv, NE Druid), Dracxil (came in shortly before Gahz'rilla) (as Beline, Human Paladin)
Quests: Scarab Shells, Troll Tempers, Tiara of the Deep, Gahz'rilla
As stated above, this week took the Guild's adventurers into the ruins of Zul'Farrak, once a city of the ancient Troll empire, and still a city crawling with Trolls.
Marching into the entrance of the ruins, we slew the Troll guards as they attacked. Each fight would have to be taken carefully, as the Trolls were no stranger to battle. These Trolls provided us with Troll Tempers, needed by Tanaris' blacksmith. We stayed to theright wall as best we could, careful not to disturb the ritual the Trolls carried out in the first room we came to, before we were ready to spring our attack, that is. They too fell, and we continued our fight, choosing carefully our targets, until we found ourselves in the Scarab room. A Troll leader was there, doing what, we can only guess. The Scarabs did not attack at first, so we focused our efforts on the boss. It only took the slightest provocation to anger the Scarabs, however, and we were pushed back. This proved only a respite for the Troll leader, as we soon made our way back into the Scarab room, this time slaying its keeper and gaining another step towards our goal. We did not leave yet, however, for a goblin had requested scarab shells, and we had promised to deliver them should a chance arise.
Dispatching of the scarabs who had aided the Troll, we moved onward, finding ourselves in what seemed to be a burial chamber. A Troll stood atop a stone platform. An eerie feeling emanated from the graves, as if the inhabitants did not now rest. It would not have been safe to deal with this Witch Doctor just yet, so carefully we moved on, leaving the dead in their graves, where hopefully they would remain.
Soon we came to a long corridor, and fighting our way through came to our final destination, the pool from which the Trolls summon Gahz'rilla. However, something different would happen than they had planned.
Carefully we drew the patrols into the corridor, dealing with them as quickly as possible. It was a tough battle, but in the end we cleared the pool of its guardians, finding the Tiara of the Deep and thus helping the old woman Tabetha, who makes her home in the marshes of Dustwallow. Using the Hammer of Zul'Farrak, attained in a venture into the Troll ruins in the Hinterlands, we summoned forth the hydra Gahz'rilla, who came at us with all the fury of his kind. That was not enough to defeat us, however, and the creature fell at our feet. Taking from him a scale promised to an engineer in the Shimmering Flats, we began to head out the way we came, but we had one task left: dealing with the Troll Witch Doctor in the burial chamber.
It was as we had thought: the strange feeling I got from the graves was that of the restless undead. We fought to send these creatures to their eternal slumber, and were successful at first. Then, the Troll spotted us, and began to summon more undead minions to prevent our victory. We were in the end driven back and forced to regroup, but the Witch Doctor had bought the time he needed. Reinfocements had come to Zul'Farrak, and we would have to treat our wounds and tend to our equipment before we return, and return we will. We cannot leave the taint of undeath to fester in those ancient ruins, but we have other tasks there to complete as well, and rumors abound in Tanaris that Gahz'rilla lives on....
