Hail!
I've recently been reminded of a place in the Barrens where lies a shrine Blizzard placed to honor a coworker who died during the creation of WoW. I was thinking that it would be cool if the Valar Guild could get a group together to venture to this shrine and pay our respects.
A large group in the Barrens may cause alarm to the Horde players there, so I thought it might be good to equip flowers instead of weapons for this journey. Flowers can be bought at a flower shop in Stormwind, and there is also a quest in Redridge that gives flowers as a quest reward.
I would like to know how many would be interested in going to this Shrine. Once we know, we can talk about when to do this, namely during normal Friday questing time or after the Sunday meeting. In addition, if the Guild members stuck on European servers would be interested in doing this as a group, it would be great to have both groups doing this on the same day, almost as if we were all together.
If you are interested, post here so we know.
Take care. Eonwë

Sure, I'm interested, for the European group of course. But somebody's going to have to mail me a flower, or bring an extra one... don't have any flight-points handy for a quick transport to Stormwind, closest I have is menethil harbor... and I won't be visiting the Eastern Kingdoms any time soon. Also, I still haven't found the Shrine myself, as I said in the meeting... I've been up quite a few Barrens-mountains, but no Shrine. But if people can provide information, and either a portal to Stormwind or an extra flower, I'm surely in

Perhaps if we want European involvement, we could try the Friday WoW meeting, and run AIM in the background. Since some of us started coming an hour earlier on Fridays for Elatan and Orome's sake, we could all try to come early this Friday for Europe's sake. That would be 4pm ESDT, Friday.
After the Sunday business meeting, about 6pm ESDT or 5:30 ESDT at best, would mean Europe would be asleep before we reached the shrine, unless everone is pre-positioned. With planning and cooperation during the week, we could do that.
I and others need directions on how to make the WoW screen smaller size, to show AIM at the same time rather than alt+tabbing, if anyone knows.
Some of us might position a main or alt near the shrine or broken fence and log-in from there to join the group.
I suggest we start collecting and mailing flowers earlier in the week.
If we have time and anyone who needs it, we could start out with the named boar quest. Otherwise or for some of us, we could meet at the entrance to the Barrens, where the fence is broken?
It would be cool if we are joined by flower-carrying Horde characters on such a pilgrimage, as some of you do have them on Lothar.
Who all needs a flower?
A tomb that looks like Aragorn's is in Darkshire by the cemetery not far from the road into it. Is that also a shrine of some type, or perhaps a Tolkien tribute?

I have flowers on Haranwen who I'm currently trying to get up to 40, so she'll be available to head out to Barrens on Friday so I'm in.
Also, hmmm... I've been playing my horde chars on another server in the barrens but don't know about this shrine. Where abouts is it supposed to be?

A quick note: This is just to see how many are coming. We haven't named a date yet, so don't jump on today expecting a trip to the Barrens :} Once we know how many we're expecting, we talk look at when.

Would we need to be of any specific minimum level? I realize that we're going to lay flowers, not do battle, but is my level 32 paladin going to catch aggro from the next zone over because his level is too low?

All creatures in the Barrens areas we will be visiting are in their teens (going from the opening near Ashenvale) or maybe 20s at most (from the Stonetalon mountains). From Dustwallow marsh the creatures along the road would be within your level range, so whichever way we take, you're more than safe. If any creatures get too adventurous with any lower level members who wish to join in, they will be quickly dispatched.
Hope that serves to help everyone interested in joining to rest at ease :}

Well, it's official now: This coming Friday, 6-03-05, guild questing time. We can meet at the hole in the gate in the Barrens, or in Astranaar (South of Auberdine) if there's someone not sure of how to get to the Barrens from Astranaar. Once we hit the Barrens have flowers equipped.
Check the Meeting Transcript for full(er) details, but that's the gist of it. Any questions or comments, feel free to post and I'll do my best with an answer.
Take care. Eonwë

COming out of the Gryphon area, hold to the right wall and take the tunnel to the canals. Make a right and there should be a flower shop right at the end of the way.
Additionally, there is a quest you can pick up in Redridge (Lakeshire) that will also award you flowers. It should be called "An Unwelcome Guest," launched by Martie Jainrose (she's usually standing out in front of the house). She's at the house after the inn at very end. Just beyond her house is the target of the quest.
Take care. Eonwë

Ulmo has requested an Uldaman run after the Shrine event. As the Shrine event might not take long, this sounds doable. Any takers?
I'm in for the Shrine and Uldaman.

Sure, I´ll be available for Uldaman too. If it is possible I´d like us to take off 4 VST due to Naira`s short journey from the Gates of Morn to here. If not possible I quess I`ll walk with her through the Doors of Night

I have flowers on both my 18 and 50 characters. I have some spares if anyone needs them. I will try to come at 4 VST (that's Valar Standard Time meaning EST if anyone is confused.)
