Why hello there! I got rather bored and decided to type some random stuff into a search engine. Amazingly enough, I found the Valar website. I actually lead a guild on Well of Souls called the Swords of Villanousity, and we are the only other relatively large guild on Well of Souls (though, I notice you have but two people playing on WoS) with about 55 active members total, and about 25 active on WoS, but we do play on CS, and have members on SC/D2/WC3 and quite a few planning on FF11. I am also one of the moderators on the Synthetic-Reality forums - www.synthetic-reality.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi - which is the official board for Well of Souls and a few other small games. You'll find that most of your questions about world developing are already answered there and you can ask the regular devvers any other questions you have. What made me look further once I found the site, is the fact that you guys actually seem to be a Role Play guild, and SoV is the only actual RP guild on WoS. And I was surprised that there are actually other guilds out there that have a 'maturity' requirement. Sadly, this is absent in most games and guilds, though a couple on Well of Souls do it to some extent. So, I decided to post and say hello. I was also curious, are there any plans for your guild to 'expand' properly into Well of Souls, or is it just a hobby of a couple members? My guild has been pushing to expand officially into bnet for awhile, but I am unfamiliar with it's guild environment and have been hesitating.

Aiya! Thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions about the guild's plans to expand anywhere you may want to get in touch with Varda or Eonwe ( I think ? ) then again, they both come here to this board at times so they may be of more help than I am.
Namarie, Galdor.

Hail F'Nok and pleased to meet you! :}
Where we "expand" to really depends on the interest of our members, so unless we have a contingency that intends to play Well of Souls on a regular basis, we won't be "expanding properly" there. All our members are welcome to play Well of Souls, or any other game for that matter.
As for expanding properly into bnet, I have not been on Well of Souls myself and so I don't know how much different the environment(how players treat one another) is, but I suspect it to be a bit of a shock in some places :} You'll want to set up your own channel. If you want to make use of Blizzard's "Clan" system, you'll need 10 members on WC3/TFT. It'll give you a channel you can use and mostly gaurantee to keep out unwanted elements. The other option is an Ops Channel.
Take care and good luck :} Eonwë

Yes, ours too is based on member demand, being almost 100% democratically run, as founder I just make sure that decisions actually get carried out, heh. Does this clan system use any web based commands and such for operating it? We are currently developing an integrated site with all management features included and we have the Well of Souls guild features auto-managed by the system, and being able to add to it to manage the BNet stuff would be cool. I just don't know enough about it (and unfortunately and too pressed for time to look into it in depth) to know if it's possible. Last time I actually played on BNet there was no formal guild/clan system. Thanks for the info though. If curious about anything on Well of Souls, try the synthetic-reality boards, or my guilds forums (which are a fair bit nicer, heh), there are plenty of players around that'd help out.

The WC3 Clan System was set up with v 1.10 of WC3/TFT. It's made to work through battle.net. You get 10 ppl together in a channel, invite them to join your "clan" and once all accept the invitation the clan is created. You can then appoint officers if needed, who can invite and do most of what the Cheiftain (Founder) can do, except disband the Clan. However, at least 10 people will need to maintain a regular presence on bnet (especially the Chieftain), logging in at least every 28 days.
You can view some of the clan stuff through the web, such as last login date for your members, but it's mainly operated through bnet.
Hope that helps :}
Take care :} Eonwë

Hey, F'nok! I doubt you remember me, but I was Hal/Halmundo on Syn-Real.
I worked quite awhile to bug even Arathorn to join, but I figure on winter break, more people would be interested - I also will try to recruit on WoS.
[aside]How goes RC?[/aside] [aside2]You know how to recover characters that havn't been played for too long?[/aside2]

Yes. They are all-powerful. You can't escape them. You can run for awhile, but you'll always come back.
So..do you know how to fix chars who havn't been played in 30 days? I'm sure there was a way..

Didn't you have PC probs at one point... maybe it's a registry anomaly? Perhaps the WoS creator can help <shrug>?

Your characters can become too old, but typically it'll take upto 3-6 months. It is possible to bring them forward by loading each patch with the correct system date, and moving them forward a patch at a time from where they were... If you nede a hand to do so, let me know, I have all patches
