Nornuan Turtle run with Lhee's group 8:30 pm EDT June 14, 2009.
Fainan's internet was down all day and into the next, but others did make it. Two outsiders had to be called in to fill a couple of slots as a lot of Valarites did not come online.
Since so few Valarites are getting to go on the Turtle runs, we need to come up with another day for a mainly Valarite run, especially since after Book 8 we can do two runs a week if we like.
Monday at 8:30 pm is taken. What days and times are good for a second run for you?

Fainan, myself and some of the others have been discussing putting together a Valar guild weekly run for the turtle.
It seems we do have enough 60's to start running this.
Now, for this fellow make up is very important. It is basically a tank and spank with a few twists.
Current working stategy for the group make up:
At least two very solid tanks. They will need to trade aggro as the corruptions from the turtle increase. Usually when they hit 1500 morale damadge on a tick. Tanks need to be solid and experienced at holding aggro. Or else the turtle will spin and eat your minstrels and hunters.
That means we will have to have at least 2 minstrels attending them. A third minstrel is always a nice option for the rest of us. AT 100k the healing will get very tough, so save fellowships heart and call to greatness for that point. Minstrels, as usual, have thier first responsibility to the tank.
2 Captains are best ... once the aggro on the tanks is solid, they start rotating on casting oathbreakers ... usually 30 seconds into the fight. And the really do need to have at least two combat rez's to keep the tanks and possibly the mins up. They can also function as back up tanks.
At least on LM is handy as a debuffer.
Your last 3 NEED to be straght DPS and hammer the thing until the shell cracks and we have turtle soup.
Hunters should be using merciful shot after the turtle hits half to remove the corruptions. As my experience is as a hunter in there ... each should have the following ... a set pof improved breechfinders to reduce aggro and either windrider or the threat reducing book depending on how good the tank/min combination is. Bows should have threat down on them if they are using LI's. Beast slayer/and or fire bows are handy as well. If you have good tanking, then precision stance will rock in there. But if you start to get aggro or your tanks go down drop to endurance stance immediately. Save any heart seekers for the turtles last 20k. If you are using a tricked out first age bow ... please, please, please, go endurance stance as you will die VERY quickly and the fight will take much too long to succeed in it. In a pinch slot press onward. The mins should not be healing you. In fact, they most likely will let you die as they should.
For placement ... there is a small island out in the middle. The tanks need to drag the turtle there and keep it facing away from the rest of the raid. Everyone else is just inside the door.
If the turtle spins in the fight, turn it fast. VERY FAST.
Lastly there is a wound AOE ... it will shoot spines at everyone. Wound pots do not help.
For pots make sure you have Morale and Power.
Okay I hope that helps for folks who have not run the Filkul turtle before.
Take care!

After Book 8 we can now do two turtle runs.
Monday about 8:30pm EST we work with the Lhee group. Once the run starts, it is just under five minutes. This gives us a lot of extra time for another run afterwards with Valarites who didn't get to go the first time, or to do other instances at the same time and afterwards, depending on numbers and wishes.
Thursday the turtle re-sets. We can do an all-Valar run (or two) then. How does Thursday sound and do you want to make it around the same time? Earlier? Later?
Between scheduled Turtling: *Group runs: Be sure to join up with fellow kinmates for other instances between to gear up, deed, quest, and just for fun company! Let's also see about finishing up the books at least on mains. *Stock-pile raid-kit materials: Craft to re-fill food, scrolls, and tokens. Mirror runs (and scholars) can help us keep morale and power potions stocked as well. Always keep stacks of 20 of potions vs fear, wound, poison, disease in your inventory, sold by the healer in the 21st Hall. We need to try to keep some of this raid-kit in the kin-house for those who don't have those high-level crafting abilities or lack time, and so that we can make various instance runs at any time.
We are gearing up so we will have enough for the re-match with the Watcher in the Vile Maw (resets Monday and Thursday) and to run the Book 8 Dar Narbugud (resets Thursdays).

Thanks, Varda. I'm happy to participate in any of these, including Turtle Soup, if I'm on. Note that daily mirror runs can be soloed by Level 60's and probably 59's.

8:30 pm EDT Nornuan Turtle run with the Lhee group for August 3, 2009. Please sign up here to let us know you're on standby.
We may also do another run of some type after (and could do an interruptable type before). Suggestions welcome for the after-turtle run, even if Maedhros' did have to be canceled.
Fainan (Varda's hunter)

Aug. 10, 2009 8:30 pm EDT Nornuan Turtle run with Lhee group. Other groups will most likely form during and after as well. (This did happen after the quick run.) Valarites, please say if you can be on stand-by. Signed up on Lhee group at the time of this writing:
Daegaran, captain, leader Fainan, hunter (Varda) Jorgin Lycius aka Dannav
Signed up here were Varda, Maedhros, and Dis. Members making themselves available for the run early except for Aeronwy whose work made his slightly late: Aeronwy, Amroth, Dis, Eomer, Forlong, Indis, Maedhros, Melkor, and Varda. Friend: Dagr
Raid participants were: Aeronwy (Gorlim's minstrel), Alasse (Indis' lore-master), Caedell (champion), Daegaran (leader and captain), Dagr (minstrel), Erkendan (Eomer's captain), Fainan (Varda's hunter), Jorgin (rune-keeper), Lhee (Amroth's lore-master), Lycius (hunter), Miruin (Forlong's hunter), and Valain (champion).
The run went smoothly without even one death, taking down Nornuan in the first try. We used Song of Aid, Revealing Mark, Oathbreakers, and bear taunts, while wearing acid resist gear. The raid leader prefers hunters to use Strength stance for maximum dps. All participants were level 60, traits were at least at level 10.

Aug. 17, 2009 8:30 pm Nornuan turtle run with Lhee group, Valarites helping fill in. Members' signing up before the run can get dkp points with the kin for other runs (points that can be added to dice rolls for instance gear runs).
Varda aka Fainan, hunter, hopes to be back in town in time. If not, please coordinate with Daegaran in the friend channel. He may check this board to see which of us signed up. Please use the name and class that you have available for the turtle run, such as Fainan, hunter. It needs to be level 60. Please already have food, morale and power potions, and whatever else you are able to bring such as scrolls already ready. Crafters' keeping such items in the kinchest can help here, as any of the kin can pop to the kinhouse, then be summoned by a captain after leaving the housing instance.
