Greetings and Welcome! The 'ladder' season on Bnet (for Diablo II LOD) is a 'competition' of sorts that Bnet provides which lasts a few months. The last one lasted around 6 months (usually not that long, I believe). Each ladder season you have to create new characters to play. To do so, make sure the checkbox next to 'Ladder Character' is checked when you create it. This ladder character can only play in games with other ladder characters (not regular D2 LOD players), so you can't trade or swap stuff with regular LOD IDs players while the ladder is still on. In ladder play you also have a chance at finding better items and use better runes words than you can in regular play. The highest ranking players at the end of the season (a time limit that Bnet decides on) are put on a list that everyone gets to marvel at and be envious of! ;D Once that particular ladder season is over, Bnet changes your characters to regular ones, at which point you can swap stuff with your regular chars and with other regular players. For more information visit their Ladder FAQ web page at: www.battle.net/diablo2exp/faq/ladder.shtmlHope this helps!

soj trading is by choice. We don't use it in the Valar Guild.
The latest B.net notice made it sound as if Ladder 1 characters will still be separated from Regular, and be separated from the new Ladder 2 group. I wonder how much database space they have for continuing such a practice?
The guild will have D2X people scattered across Regular, Middle-earth mod, Ladder 1, Ladder 2, and HarcCore in all the above. We "to our scattered bodies go".

Bidwi, you should know we do not allow profanity. We are a family guild stressing courtesy and literacy in both actions and speech. Please edit your post accordingly, and in the future choose other non-profane words to describe your feelings toward something. Furthermore, I daresay you would want a new e-mail too.
Take care. Eonwë

I was wondering about that to Varda, I don't see how they can keep every ladder season in seperate groups. I hope they just decide to make them regular characters anyways.

Further explanation from Blizzard on the Arreat Summit shows that they are indeed putting them in the same "world" as our normal characters.

did you know they released 20 or so new rune words in the new ladder season? I wonder when these words will become common knowledge?

With the Season 2 Ladder, the first person to get to 99 with any character gets a prize package, including a copy of WoW. However, since all these people with insane amounts of time on their hands are already topping to ladders out at 87 and lowest is 71ish, I don't expect I'll be winning this one :}
Take care :} Eonwë
