Dusksinger meets Akairis ( part 2 )
Korgano had been near Uppland to collect some herps for his business, he is a shaman you know, and he could tell me he had met a funny little thing begging for food who seemed to fit into my description of Akairis. Well she was begging for a fish really, or for some powder to lure the fish close to the shore and she had asked him if it was the right road to the border.
That story frightened me, It was now one week ago Korgano said but it might have been two, the memory of a troll is not the best so dont ever trust it completely.
I hastened towards Uppland, that little fool, I had told her she should not go there, that she were too young and it were not a place for her age. d**n me and my big mouth.
I asked all on the road if they had seen her but everyone were too busy with their own to notice a kid running around and she was good at hiding.
It was not untill I stood outside the gates in Uppland one of the guards told he had seen this green blue girl. She had asked him where the King and his army were and that fool had pointed out towards Fensalir and replied the army had left for Bledmere Faste and then she ran out in the snowfog.
I could have slayn him, how stupid can a grown man be. Let a young girl run out into the freezing cold frontier ? Not only is it filled with wolfs and other beasts but the enemy is out there and even some few are honourble people most would just put an arrow in her if they get the chance.
For a time I ran headless around but when darkness fell I turned towards Fensalir, passed the bandit camp and the wolfs there, passed Fensalir and went over the pass southwest between the hills after Fensalir towards Jamtland mountains and Glenlock Faste.
Why I took this path I do not know, it is not the main road for people travelling into Jamtland but maybe it was by grace of the Gods or my knowledge of the exploring mind of Akairis that led me.
The whole night I seached through the area, carefully avoiding the ghosts and beasts and listening to any sounds that might give me a clue or expose some sneaking bands of enemies.
But I found nothing untill the sky began turn purple and the first light in the east made the stars disappear. Then I found something.
A piece of blue clothe just visible sticking out from the newfallen snow. And blodstenches on the clothe. And a dead frozen wolf half burried in the snow. That wolf had not been killed yesterday, it had at least been two days ago.
I was really worried now. These wolfs always came in groups and there were only one dead wolf. Where were the others and if Akairis had managed to kill this one then the rest surely would have killed her and dragged her away to feast on her.
I began my sad task to seach for what might be left of bones. At least I would do what I could to find her last resting place and say a prayer for her soul.
This was all my fault, if I just never had told her all those stories she would never have gotten the idear of going out here seaching adventure and fame. She would have been alive and happy and have annoyed people with her endless questions, silly remarks and stupid actions. And I would still have the fun and joy of seeing her benieth the oak at Haggerfell. Instead I now had to burry the bones and lay her to rest forever.
I wiped my tears, I had a task to do. I had to find her remainings. From the hollows, grooves and dents in the snow I could follow the track the wolfs possibly had dragged Akairis. They lead up the hillside to a thicket of trees. A perfect spot for a pack of wolfes to dinner.
I moved up and in between the trees and looked around and I spotted blue and green clothe in a hollow in the snow. I prepared myself for the sight as I rushed towards it, expecting blodsheathed snow, thorn apart flesh and bones and nothing more.
I found blodsheathed snow, thorn apart clothe but no bare bones. Akairis were there and lying with closed eyes as dead but she was not eaten. She was breathing but only just and she was cold, terrifying cold. Her sword were broken and her axe were gone, she had a real nasty looking wound in the side and bitemarks all over but alas; she was alive.
I grabbed her and lifted her up and sped as fast as I could east, towards Fensalir and Svasud gates. I didnt think about beasts or enemies I just walked as fast I could with my load.
Once upon the long walk she opened her eyes and looked at me and all she said during the whole journey was Hello Dusk, you know I killed that wolf, I really did. It was a great fight and I would have killed the 3 others if it wasnt because they were distracted by those silly noicy Hibernians that travelled out on the road. I just needed a little rest before I would have gone to Bledmere and seen the King himself
I simply had to stop five minutes, I had not air to carry her and laugh at her at the same time and I promised myself I would give her a pair of black gloves. She had deserved them. Not family of blod but truely a sister of mine.
