I'm moving the important info to a new thread so it will be accessible in the first post of the thread.
Chat Program: AIM
Clients: AIM, Trillian, Pidgin can all access the AIM servers
Channel: Valar Guild Meetingplace
Open To/When: Any time for members who want to get together to chat, look for other members to game with, etc. Also open for non-members looking to join. I try to be in AIM when I'm available.
Meetings Held: Every Sunday 5pm US East Coast Time
For an invitation to meetings, IM: VardaValar1 or Eonwe Valar (who are also the standard meeting chairs)
To enter the meeting channel on your own: Find the group chat option, replace any names in the invite list with your own (delete all and type in your own name once), and put the channel name in its proper place.
The Meeting is divided into a Business section and a Tolkien Section.
The Business section generally varies in length depending on the amount of news, but averages between 20 and 30 minutes, and consists generally of:
Membership News (News by, about, for, and from the membership)
Web News (News about additions or changes to our various web pages)
Gaming News (Quick mentions of gaming information that may be of interest, as well as quick rundowns of gaming done during the week)
Any other important guild business is also handled during this section.
The Tolkien section goes from the end of the Business section until the majority of participants need to go, or discussion has sufficiently died down, and generally involves one of the following:
Tolkien Trivia
Discussion of various Tolkien topics
Tolkien Moments: Quotations from one of Tolkien's books that particularly catches one's eye
Discussion of the Role-Play Story-in-progress
The time between the banging of the gavel (signifying the end of the meeting/Tolkien chat) and the emptying of the channel is called Aftermeeting. This is a good time for general chat with members, getting together for gaming, and finding a Maia or Vala who can test you for full membership.
For those who cannot make it to the meeting, transcripts are linked from the News Page with a general outline of the meeting minutes.
