I'm still around here, there's a free 3-week trial and I'd be happy to pay (through ingame currency) for another month after that. Don't listen to the reviews about it, it really is amazing. Contact me ingame by mailing Pallando Luineistar or joining the ingame mailing list Eru's List. Feel free to contact me out of game using my mail that's listed on our membership page. Apocryhpa (the latest free expansion) just came out in March, it's amazing. Wormholes and such things. Also, it's not just about the combat. It has it's own Quarterly Economic Report.

If I can, I will. Computer problems will probally stop me, as well as financial. I don't see me getting a job so I can pay for it. I'm not THAT interested, I fear.

This will be Everquest style, correct? As in MMORPG, 3D, all the bells and whistles?

I am sorry to announce that I may at any time in the near future take a leave of unknown duration. My Grandmother is currently sick, and as such, I do not know where my real life is going. I would ask that if I were to disappear without contact, that you hold my name for 4 months, and then drop it. There is no sence in keeping it longer.
I will be around for as long as possible, and will continue if possible to continue my posistion as the most lax guard in the world of the Valar channel.
A merry Christmas to you all.

I was starting to wonder if I would ever get that second star. ;-)
I'm honored to be the most active non-admin on here. :-)
And yes, quality over quanity. Quality Elvondel development over massplaying of Diablo 2. ;-)
Edit: Second star, not first. /me fires the fruit cannon at himself

After some discussion with Ar, some preliminary ideas I have bout races/classes:
Elves Dwarves, Humans are the only races. Period. Then, the question becomes what classes each will have, but the problem is changed slightly by how classes work in WoS, becasue it dosn't use a "pick your race, then aapply a class on top of that" stlye setup.
To the game, you just end up having totally seperate classes. As well, only certian things can be directly affected by the WoS-hardcoded classes. Level Names, HP, MP, and access to weapons. any other distinctions we have between classes will be script-based.
That said, I also want classes to be more than just what weapon-type they use, II'd rather have the distinction be much fuller in gameplay, as well as giving people the opportunity to "add knowledge" to their class, getting certian abilities while sacrificing the useage of others, and having decisions like that affcet who they can talk to. Some humans may refuse to talk to soldiers becasue a gang of soldiers buste up their shop years ago, things like that. Right now, different class ideas I have are Healer for Elves and Men, Ranger for Men, Beserker for Dwarves, Warrior/Soldier for all of them, and some sort of vagabond/jack of all trades for Men as well. Then some sort of arcane master of any of many different arts, such as the runs on Moria's door or Celebrimbor's rings.

Just as a quick note, I'm looking through items.txt making a HTML file of it, and there is (kind of crappy) support for weapons that use ammo now.

Like I said, if there's support, I'll do it. Working on streamlining levels.txt. I dunno if I'll bother touching monsters and items other than to clear the pre-defined stuff.

I've apparently forever lost what I had for Elvondel, but I've already practically reconstructed the quests file, and I'm working on the other parts. If you are interested, don't post in the old threads. I'll gauge interest here, and then we'll move on. Actually, I'll just lock all the old threads now, and post a summary in here, edited into this post.
[EDIT]Of course, being unable to find the lock button would hinder this, and I don't want to delete them...oh well. Just don't post there, please. Here's a summary:
WEAPONS: One weapon per 5 levels, with the exception of levels 0/1 and 99/100. This gives us 20 weapons per weapon class, and the classes are Axe, Bow, Dagger, Stave, and Sword. The remaining three weapons classes are a special one for devs/valar characters, a n unused class, and one for found items. That will get another topic to explain. The system to name them is unimportant and can be gone over later. Breakdown of differences between weapons:
Axe - short range - medium high damage - medium cost - common Bow - long range - medium low damage - medium high cost - common Dagger - very short range - high damage - low cost - very common Staff - no range - casts spell - high cost - rare Sword - medium short range - medium damage - medium cost - uncommon
Classes/Races:
The races would be Elves, Dwarves, and Men., each getting one unique and two shared classes, to be determined.
Spells:
We will not use the ingame spell wheel, becasue that's not conductive to Arda. All spells/abilities will instead be scripted by me or someone else, and be used for much more than just combat.
Story:
Men are sent to look for an Ancient Numorean city below the Harad desert.
Elves are from the area near their awekening, that never went west, and now wish to find the truth.
Dwarves are from the new Khazad Dum and are going East to spread the word.
Think that's everything -Orodreth [/EDIT]

Anyone else interested in this besides me? I think I still have my old work, but if I don't it's not exactly a big loss. Most of what I had finished was prep work and concept. I will look around and get a definite answer, but I won't bother doing more unless someone(s) else are willing to help.

Oh yes, that's the idea..along with a few named bows to break it up. The bowstring would be adding strength to the bow, I suppose, speaking in game. Attack power, while the wood contributs to both A/D..so D would go up evey 4 bows, A all the time.

Hmm. I think I get it now. You're thinking of the Bowstring as a seperate peice from the bow..no. The players will get their bows preassembled.. For examble: A flax yew bows would be level 20, and a bow strung with the hair of an Elf would be level 25.. So on and so forth.

I havn't decided yet. I need to look into what types of wood bows/staves are made of. I figure Yew and Birch will be for Bow, Oak for Stave.
Bowstring will add a dimention to the name. "Elf hair strung Yew bow" Hmm. That'll be too long.. Oh well, it will fit in the description at the very least. Same goes for the staves.

Varda and I got to talking and we figured this out:
Weapons every 5 levels, making for 20 weapons. We have 5 metals to work with: bronze, copper, iron, steel, and mithril, so 4 swords and 4 axes of each, along with a few named weapons.
For Bows and Staves (I like that better), we will use 5 types of wood. Bows will have various bowstring to use as well, and staves will be decorated or cast in metals.
Any thoughts?
