Kudos to Eonwe for his wise, elaborate and balanced efforts to treat Ulmo's problems with the attention they deserve.
I understand Ulmo's frustrations. Been there myself. Ulmo, it all boils down to this: you are confronted with some people not making the same in-game choices you do. Those people choose not to have your dedication, nor your commitment. Since they don't you are deprived of playing the game in the way you want.
That is frustrating, but there is no rudeness nor malevolence here. They just don't share your preferences.
Speaking for myself and most of the ones I run with: we have chosen for many years to walk the road of high-end achievement. In the end we have grown tired of it. We now lay back and prefer having fun, goof around and laugh together over trying to achieve the more challenging goals. But that doesn't mean I don't understand your pain. You put effort and commitment into it, why can't others have the decency to show some respect and at least come prepared and on time? Been there, the T-shirt is in my closet. You are right to expect it, you are not right in calling them rude when they don't. They probably never thought they were doing something you consider wrong. Have they been taught otherwise? Not told, but actually taught?
When I joined Valar in 1999, you all - especially you Ulmo - showed me the way to play by giving enlightening examples, examples that spoke to my heart and I wanted to follow. My gaming level was deeply below mediocre but I was always treated with friendliness and kindness. That is still the only way to teach: by good example and inducement. That is what the Valar Guild has been about. Not all those who wander are lost, but accusations do not give a map to find the way home. Only the accuser risks getting lost himself...
You have been my teacher twelve years ago, I would hate to see your frustrations get the better of you. So cheer up and rethink your approach to deal with this.

Aiya Elatan -who was my twinbrother Omar when I was Salmar ! Good to hear from you old friend. After many years of DaoC (which were great) and a half year on Warhammer (which was very frustrating) me and my little band of friends are now back playing LOTRO. LOTRO is graphically and substantially still the best MMO I have seen. Pity that the PvP aspect is very poorly developed. I must say that when one is blessed with a regular small band of Eurofriends playing LOTRO on the American server is actually not bad at all. Like not much competition for quest mobs and nodes and not much lag etcetera. We are casual enough not to care about getting radiance gear and avoid the very tiring instance-raiding like the plague . Our blood will run towards RvR gaming soon again. We will be trying AION when it comes out in september. Then we will be playing on the Euroservers though, for the long years of experience with DaoC have told us that indeed for RvR you DO want to play primetime. All in all it is sad for the Valarguild that indeed the gaming worlds always have to be divided into time-zones. Undoubtely Diablo 3 will also have that problem. I will not mind playing Diablo 3 on the American servers though, so maybe we will all be able to meet in the same place again there! <cheers to all> Irmo, the dreamy one.

Four of us Euro's - Maha (Miriel), Hiur, Annlyn and I - are at the moment playing LOTRO very regularly Menel. Like almost every day ;D. Since we stopped playing Warhammer completely. Maha and I live in the Netherlands, Hiur in Norway and Anne in Sweden.
We are mostly on on our Palantiri characters. We are always watching Valar chat though.
We would be available for a fixed group at a fixed time too, at any Eurofriendly times..
Level 60's: Irmohir-Captain, Irmogar-Guardian Mahariel- Minstrel, Mahamiriel-Loremaster Hiurred- Captain Anne has not got any 60s yet, we are questing up together on wardens/runekeepers, presently 41ish (Yrmo/Mahael/Hiuro/Annlyn).
Countless other alts at all ages.
My Valarguild characters are Irmbrand and Irmodoc, Maha's is Maharetis.
Send us a message!

Yrma will want to join you on the sallies. Irmogar still needs trolls in Angmar, anybody up for that? I bet none of you have finished the troll questline (the Arena superboss) in Eastern Malenhad . Irmohir (like Mahariel) has the ambition of finishing all the deeds in the game, so if you folks want to join in for - for instance - doing Kergrim (daytime) and Limfraen (nighttime) in Evendim, be our guest ;D. Did you know that grinding mobs for virtues is a great way to get pocket-money? And when you do it together, it can actually be fun Something else, do you all know of anybody who has actually reached the end of the map of the Barrowdowns Reputation dungeon? I think that and the bosses of Barad Gularan provide two of the ultimate challenges in the game (other than raid thingies).

At 11:09 PM EDT Miriel (Mahamiriel LM) started leading Hurin (Hiurred CPT), Ulmo (Niequi MNS) and me (Irmogar GRD) through the hollows of Goblin-town. In perfect straight lines Maha guided us to all places and buttons we needed, doing an occasional quest for those who wanted any along the way. More or less precisely when we got that all done, Varda logged on. Not having the pleasure of a potential full fellowship to do things with very often, we discussed possible other things we could do, and agreed on doing an Urugarth run. We got company of Kent (Dirco BRG) from the Palantiri, so we had a fellowship of 6. Although it had been a year since Maha and I last were in that instance, Miriel led us through a nigh perfect Urugarth run, successfully finishing all the quests, bosses (e.g. the dragon Lhugrien, the warg-keeper and the Urugarth end-boss Lagmas) and class items we needed. Varda had to go soon, but we found a pleasant replacement in the person of Amroth (Lhee LM) to keep a fellowship of 6 (and help Maha with the routing now and then). Having two loremasters mezzing annoying adds makes for very comfortable questing by the way . From this experience I would say that this combo (LM/LM/BRG/CPT/MNS/GRD) is very much recommendable for nasty dungeons! About 6 hours of high-end questing, not one casualty (!), not once we got lost, all objectives fulfilled. Kudos to Miriel for initiating and leading this, and thanks to those who attended this very nice event. Irmo

We started off with Ulmo (Niequi/mins), Legolas (Thandril/hunt), Miriel (Mahariel/mins) and me (Irmohir/capt). We helped Ulmo and Than get the quests for the Emissaries (from the named mobs in Himbar) and then went south-east. Route from Gath Forthnir to Minas Caul without too much trouble. Inside Minas Caul the Emissary turned out to be a 70 k nemesis who spawned a constant flow of 2 additional elites to help (and heal) him. It took them about 20 minutes to take us down, but down we went...
We found 2 members of the Palantiri (Mosby/hunt and Eidelweiss/mins) willing to help, and succeeded in taking down the Emissary of Minas Caul after a loooooooooong fight.
We then went on with the challenge of finding the hardest places for the deed Circle of Despair (8 places around Barad Gularan for Angmar Fidelity virtue). 5 of these are relatively easy, 3 are extremely hard. After the latest patches these places have elite masters (26-42 K HP) every few feet of the way: ME giants, ME angmarim, ME wights, ME wraiths, ME trolls.
We succeeded in reaching Minas Demh and then Minas Maur. Both were guarded by about 10 elite masters: we ran up the last yards of the way with captain's haste and IHW/LS; Minas Demh went ok, but Minas Maur led to death for some and later all of us... we met again at the rez circle after all getting credit. Decided we should approach the last place (Minas Guradan) from the south, since coming from the north was obviously (too) hard. Well, it appeared the south (as well as the north) approach to Minas Gularan is guarded by dozens of Elite Masters, sooo....
A few deaths later Ulmo, then the palantiri, had to go. Than, Maha and I tried another time, but again we failed. Later only Maha and I remained, and I convinced Maha to try again. And .... we succeeded, Maha and I got credit, even after me falling off a cliff (of course).
So finally, after a year since we first went to that area, we completed our last-but-one needed virtue. Only the trolls of Sarnur remain now for Valour 8.
If some of you feel like going to Barad Gularan, be prepared for a fun challenge. If you seek good rewards for little effort, avoid this place at all cost <grin>. My total repair bill was around 700 silver.
We ourselves need to finish the other two Emisssaries, they are at the south Minas, so much easier to reach. Anyway I would not hesitate going back to this area, if any of you feel the urge to go there.
Thanks to Ulmo and Than for being there with us. It was fun to be involved in something (very!) challenging again.
Cheers, Irmo, Lord of Dreams and Visions.

After having quested around Staddle for a while, Hurin, Miriel and me were in dire need to do some hobbit-tossing. Amaranta volunteered and we had a fantastic time!
We succeeded in tossing Amaranta into a well (3 times), getting her burned at an oven and loosing her in a haystack. All in all, a most memorable event!

I can imagine the combination of long Linkdeads and the past pace at which we have been moving lately have been wearing down a bit Anc. But come back soon, the game isn't the same without our Tatertot in the frontline!

UPDATE
Irmohir is now a grandmaster jeweller, able to make (and crit on)everything. Thanks to all who helped me get there, and I am proud to say I have been able to make many fine rings and necklaces for many guildies already. Do not hesitate to ask for anything!
Cheers, Irmo
(Donations of siver, gold, platinum and especially misty mountain silver ore/ingots are still highly appreciate as materials to try and crit on rings and necklaces we want)
