Which Elvish language? This is the Announcements section. The Tolkien section is slightly lower. Unless you're an elf, you don't have an elvish name. You can make up one, or use the meaning of your real name and translate it. Please don't use all caps. It's considered rude. We see you just fine without that and it is harder to read. Here are some links from our Links page concerning elvish languages: valarguild.org/varda/links/links.html#TolkienLanguages

Topic moved to the Tolkien Discussion Board.
Please be mindful when you use anything other than a normal font as well. Your first post was hard to read because of the red shadows behind it.
Aye to what Varda said. With as many language resources as there are there, it's unlikely you won't find what you're looking for. If you're looking for something in Quenya, start with the Lorebook and see where that gets you. There's a couple of Sindarin sites in there are well.
Take care. Eonwë

Hello everyone Since I've been disappeared for a long time I'll introduce myself. I'm Beren-(valar) and the only relevant thing to say for now is that I'm the author of the Lore Book... so, regarding the original question, the translation for Youthful is "Nessima" in Quenya. For sindarin I have found the translation of "youth" to be "nîth"; a quick way to construct what you are asking for would be "nithen" or "nitheb" but I don't think it is a valid word. Look in Ardalambion (the link is in the Lore Book), to learn more about Sindarin, as for me, I am specialized in Quenya so I can't really help much with Sindarin. Hope it is useful. Beren

I would like to ack something. What I need help with... and others as well, most likey, is the pronunciation of Elvish and how to speak/learn it in general. I know some of the basics, like Hello, goodbye, a few numbers, etc. But when I try to use a dictionary and memorize words, I get very confused. I also need help with how to put words together to form a sentence. COUld anyone help me with this? If so that would be great!

Pronunciation of Elvish is found in Appendix E of Return of the King, and a shorter version in the back of the Silmarillion "A Note on Pronunciation". Try picking a few words or phrases that you find most useful to start, and pick whether you wish to use Sindarin or Quenya. Well, this being my first message since I got registered, it's my obligation to salute you all... I'm called KeyKeeper, given the title of an album from Uriah Heep (hope I remember well...) "Keeper of the Seventh Gate", or given my stature, more similar to a keychain than to a mighty guardian of the Gates... anyway... I am very interested in elvish translations, kwenya the most, since I'm a great fan (follower?) of the lingüistic work of Professor Tolkien, and I'm also very much interested in name translations... such as my wife's and some friends'... I decided to go a little further with my wife's name and tried to make one for her from scratch, given her looks... She has beautiful emerald eyes, with honey-like traces around the center... so, I thought about naming her "Green-eyed Lady" or "Lady of the Emerald Gaze" or something like that, and I end up always with something like "Laikahenwen", or "Laikeheniwen", it's hard to give it the appropriate structure... and it's hard to have it make sense translating from spanish to english (by the way, I'm from Aguascalientes, Mexico, hehe... )... and, as you can see I could use a (lot)little help... I hope it isn't too much to ask... (I'll be waiting around, if there is a compassionate soul that could give me a hand... ) See you!

Greetings and welcome.
First, congrats on finding a woman with green eyes:}
Now, to the task at hand :}
"Green" can be "Lai" as in Laiquendi, the Green Elves, or it can be "Calen"/"Galen" if you wish to use Sindarin. I'm not sure if Lai is from Quenya right now.
The affix "glin" means "gleam" and is particularly applied to the eyes, as in Maeglin "Sharp/Piercing gleam."
So, you could have, with some consessions for possible mixing of languages:
Laiglin Calenglin Galenglin
all meaning "Green gleam"
or if you wish to include -wen to mean "maiden" :
Laiglinwen Calenglinwen Galenglinwen
Though when is typically an ending, I suppose you could mix the affixes up a bit for a better sound, but the resulting translation might not make all that much sense.
I'd recommend taking a look at the Lorebook, which is linked in the posts above.
Ten cuidado (Take care, if my Spanish hasn't gone too far by the wayside next to German). Eonwë

Ok... first: my most sincere apologies for the time that has passed since Eonwe had the attention to answer my question, and taking the bother in translating my wife's name to Kwenya... I am most grateful... Second: The reason to let all this time pass is very simple; since we (my wife and I) got married and started living together, there have been some issues concerning the place for us to live in. We've moved, since I wrote my question in this board, 4 times at least, so, you can imagine there has been no time to get to check my mail, even less time to enter the Guild and check it out... sheesh... so, now we are well landed and set up with our home and have time to do all those little things we had stopped doing with all that fuzz around... (Sorry for the "shrink session"). My wife says thank you, Eonwe for the help and the bother, and says hello to everyone in the Guild, she's of course a fan and lover of Tolkien's work, if not first because of the books, at least because of the films. Ok, that was somethin' I had to do... and by the way, we are now the proud parents of a baby most beautiful, with old-golden hair like her mother's, and eyes also in the likeness of her mother's, white skin and 6-month old... she weighs already 8 Kg (16.5 lb)!!! She's, as my sister said, a baby-saur, hehe... well, maybe you're asking yourselves why am I telling all these personal affairs; it's because of the precepts standing in the very beginning of this site; me and my friends also lead ourselves by many (if not all) the precepts that Tolkien stated in his work, and I consider all of you as distant, not-so-well-known-but-appreciated friends and colleagues.... well, that's all, I have spoken. Thanks again, we'll be here very often now, especially 'cuz I have cable internet at my job, haw haw haw, and I am able to check things out almost every day. See you around, and sorry for sooooooo long message, I am sick of "verborrhea" and tend to talk and talk and talk- I'm doin' it again, sorry... bye!!!!! pd: The right saying is: "Cuidate" or "Ve con cuidado" (take care and farewell, consecutively)... just for the fun of using our languages, he...

Welcome back after so long!
Glad to hear you are well. Congrats on the baby!
I should let you know that it is spelled "Quenya" not "Kwenya" :}
Thanks for correcting my Spanish :} Bis Spater! Mach's gut! ("See you later" and "Take care" in German, respectively)
