Greetings! Introducing myself - I am Aule on The Two Towers MUD t2tmud.org and LordAule on XBOX360. When I'm not playing T2T, I'm usually playing Battle for Middle Earth II on the 360. Since I've been using the name of a Vala for about 14 years now, figured I'd join your guild of fellow Tolkien fans and gamers. Feel free to Friend me on Xbox Live if you want to play BFME2, just give me a heads up on here first since I don't accept blind friend invites. Or drop by T2TMUD, I'm usually in one or the other!

Greetings and welcome :} As a polite and courteous lady/fellow and fellow Tolkien fan you are welcome to frequent our Forum :} We offer a couple of forms of membership if you are indeed seeking that. We have Tolkien Only membership, which is usually for those who don't game much or are more/only interested in contributing to the Tolkien aspect of our community, and we have Full membership, for those who want to participate in both our Tolkien and our gaming aspects. Our general contact is Varda, who also handles the Tolkien and Member-related portions of our web pages as well as being our Valie on the ground for our Lord of the Rings Online branch. I handle the Gaming portion of our web pages and am the Vala on the ground for our World of Warcraft branches. Off the top of my head, I know we have a few people who play Battle for Middle-Earth 2, but only on PC. I think I've heard members mention the Two Tower MUD before, but none jump to mind as playing it right now. You can see our Games Page for online games our members play. Check out our pages at www.valarguild.org. From there you can reach all our pages, including our Tolkien site, which features a Tolkien Encyclopedia and fan art, poetry, and stories. Information on joining the Valar Guild can be found at: www.valarguild.org/varda/guild/join.htmWe also have meetings on AIM every Sunday at 5 pm US East Coast time where you can come, meet some of us, and ask myself or Varda questions "in person" if you'd like. You do not need to be a member of the Valar Guild to post here of course :}, but I wanted to make sure you have the info you need, since you mentioned you wanted to join our Guild :} I hope all of this has been helpful, and I hope you enjoy perusing our pages as well as our Forum. Feel free to pose myself or Varda any questions you have. Varda is most easily reached by e-mail or at the meeting. You can reach me by those methods and also by sending me a PM on this forum. Take care :}

Thanks for the welcome, Eonwe!
Looks like "Aule" is already taken (I'm not surprised!), so I don't know what name I'd join as. I'll have to think on it, and of course pass your test!

Greetings Lordaule.
Welcome to our forum and great to see another enthusiast making his/her way over here.
Eonwe told you pretty much all there is to membership in a tiny nutshell. Thus I believe it falls to me to tell you about our naming policy and "ranks".
As with any good guild, we have a few ranks to denote their position within the Guild to make sure everything that needs doing gets done and that we have a clear command structure in times of need (which in my memory hasn't been often).
First there are the Valar, those who are the Council of Mahanaxxar, people who have invested (and still do) a great deal of time in the Valar Guild. Varda and Eonwe currently co-lead the Council. Valar names are reserved for those who have achieved such great honor.
Next come to Maiar, those who have done great work for the Guild and continue to invest their time in the well-being of the Valar Guild. Maiar names are reserved for those who have achieved such honor.
Last, but not least, are the members, those who make up the bulk of our guild, highly valued, for with the Valar Guild everyone is valued for what they can contribute, great or small. All other names are free to be taken by members. This can be (for example) names of Men, Elves, Trolls, Orcs and others.
If you want a Tolkien-only membership, you are free to pick a name from the members' area, but added with -TV. Of course here too, the name must be unique, as we all are.
Last, your name should be one that is the same of your gender, to avoid confusion and some other thing that has great merit, but I have strangely enough forgotten.
