Yea, yea, I know this topic has be rehashed by me dozens of times, but I need the help. Thanks to Gwaihir about a week ago, we came up with the idea of an early 1st age-based world.
The only part we worked on was the quest for Men, and the idea was that the hero got sperated for a Numeorian landing party. Trekking south to steal a boat from the Men of the Haradwaith, our valiant hero runs the boat up the coast, but decided to start the first permanent settlement of the Numeorians in M-E.
This sounded good at the time, but with the way WoS works, it would make for a fairly unbalenced game.
Therefore, I propose this to any idea people out there:
A 4th age based world. This allows for the greatest flexibility, thanks to the meager documentation, and also allows Elves, Dwarves, and Men to be realistically balenced.
I am looking for 2 classes per race at least, and perhaps a Hobbit class/race.
Off the top of my head, Elven Archer, Elven Cleric, Human Archer, Human Swordsman, Dwarven Axman, Dwarven Swrodsman, as well as a Hobbit shortswordsman.
Other races, such as Ents, Eagles, Wizards(not a race proper, yes, but for the sake of easy classification...) and Dragons will be limited to NPCs and me, the Valar and anyone who helps me make Elvondel. (See, you DO want to!)
Super-vauge ideas for 4th age main quests.
Man: <King of Gondor> has heard of a very old settlement of Numeorians, and has sent you (you big, valiant hero you) to see if it still exists. The only problem...you'll have to fight your way through the deserts of Harad, whch, sence Sauron was vanquished, has lost what little order it had, and creatures of varaying likeness to Orcs that Sauron was 'making' have fled from Barad-Dur and made the Desert their home.
Elves: You are an Elf from a settlement that broke of the Cuivien(sp) farther east. The origianl settlement of about 100 Elves has grown into a large town of 10,000 through the melennia, haveing few enemies. Recently, though, Men have begun to attack outlieing farms. It is your duty (you brave, valiant hero, you) to trek west, to find the truth about the claims made by <leaders of awakened Elves> so long ago.
I figure this will be the hardest group of classes to level, and will take the longest to finish the quest. Towns will be few and far between. You will have to subsit on weapons you get from Men after you kill them, unless you come to a friendly town of any race.
Dwarves: Um. You're from the East, going to see about the legendary Khazad-Dum? (I think we estanlished the brave, valliant warrior)
Hobbits(?): I have absolutly NO CLUE. Gandalf isn't around to start up trouble anymore...at least directly. Perhaps you are a young hobbit who's read Frodo's tale one too many times. /me shrugs
These all need much refining (Elf espically) but I think it's doable...if anyone wishes to contuinue the early-first age or any other age line, that's fine, but this is going to be my main line I think.
Whew! I done...for now. Any and all feedback appreciated.
