Still no word on exactly how many ranks there will be for Guilds in WoW, but I think it's safe to begin discussion.
The top rank names will remain identical to the honors bestowed upon full members: Vala and Maia.
Assumming there can be only one GuildMaster/Chieftain (and that there are several ranks), there will be two ranks taken up by Valar, the first being of course the GuildMaster rank and then the rank right under it. Maia will be right below that. At the bottom will be the Guild-Friend rank, made up of those who have not read LotR but would like to join us. Membership ranks will be in between.
First, we need names for these ranks, preferrably in Elvish. We have:
(1)Guildmaster and (2)rank below = Vala
(3)Maia rank = Maia
However many Member Ranks.
Guild Friend Rank(s) : I was thinking Meldor-i-Valinorë ( Literally "Friends of the People of the Valar" ) or Meldor for short.
If you'd like to recommend some names, go for it! :} Make sure they're in Elvish, Quenya preferred, but should not be the name of a people, i.e. Noldor, Vanyar, etc. Include the translation.
The Transition from the Meldor rank to Membership ranks will of course be done through the passing of our Tolkien test as has always been done. Honor may be achieved by dedication to the WoW group, but the higher honors (including a couple of levels of "regular" membership as I anticipate it right now) will require a commitment to more than just our WoW group, but to the Valar Guild as a whole (it has to... some may one day be leading the Valar Guild). Maia and Vala honors will of course include and require the test for those honors as well.
Another we can discuss: Where do you guys want to start out when we go in as far as honors? Not really anywhere to go for us Valar or Maiar, but since I anticipate and plan at this time several levels of "regular" membership, I'd be interested in knowing where you guys think you should start out. I'm still working out the structural stuff, so if you guys want to input, now's the time :}
I imagine some will say "top member rank!" but since it's expected I won't complain too much :} Others may prefer to work their way up the regular member ranks even though they help start up the group. Share your view and let's get discussing.
Anything else you guys want to discuss, start a thread and we'll discuss it, or e-mail me if you prefer one-on-one.
Take care :}
